Can someone from Broadcom clear up this confusion. We had these software engineer titles
As I recall CA had these titles
Associate se
Software engineer
Sr se
Principal se
Sr principal
Consultant
Staff
Distinguished
I believe the first 5 titles map to r&d engineer 1-5
In another thread someone said principal got 2500. I got level 4 and much less than 2500. Do they mean Broadcom principal??
If you are disappointed by your title you're focusing on the wrong thing.
My base salary did not go down.
CA bonus was 5%, Broadcom bonus is 20%.
Broadcom equity, so far more than CA.
Title shmitle. Show me the money. Broadcom is showing me more money than CA...
Maybe band is not to care too much about, however a lot of people will be disappointed by the new titles: VPs now directors, directors now managers, SDMs now supervisors, etc.
My previous title was "principal support engineer." My new title is "technical support engineer 4". Do I care? No.
So all roles are down 1 band, regardless of the BU?

Yes. CA Senior Principal is a Broadcom Principal (IC5) with a fixed 25% bonus OTE. RSUs in North America for this band vary from 2000-2800 depending on discipline. CA Principal is a AVGO staff engineer.
