Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Qualcomm, please Evaluate the directors and VP in your team

Why can’t there be a anonymous poll taking feedback about the VP and the director to evaluate their technical brilliance in guiding the team and managing the team

It has sadly become a state where your VP likes u, u stay and to be liked the VP you need to ensure your director likes you. Such a emotional torturous scam

Years ago they implemented it so you could rate your boss. I think it lasted one review cycle.

Such ratings don't reflect the value of a VP to the company anyway.

I really like MZ because she’s so pretty; did you she her hair?

007 is a great guy, most everyway except often the way he interacts with others. It's hard for 007 because he is far beyond what most others will ever come close to technically.

Murthy R was nothing less than an incompetent a$$hole. And technically inferior to most in project meetings. Being an ahole was partially to try and cover up his incompetence.

SM is an elitist a$$hole. I long ago worked with him. He was recently promoted to VP and we all disliked him. HR or someone removed all of us from reporting to him within months, many complaints. True story, his office was in bldg E at the time. Was around the 2002 time, plus or minus a year or so.

There are many seriously nasty folks around at all levels. I think it gets worse at director and above because "nasty skullduggery" is self selecting and frankly promoted. There is a lot of manuvouring to arrange things for maximum agony for others. Teamwork ? Errrrr, no. Setting others up for chaos and headaches ? Yes.

Pro tip: if ANYONE ever tells you it’s OK or normal to make someone cry at work, or yell and swear in meetings, run. We’ve all either experienced or heard the stories about #7 and M.R.’s behavior. Let’s not sugarcoat it, it could have been better. Some people like being spanked and humiliated, and that’s great, but don’t act like others are weak or inferior because they don’t enjoy it.

If Qualcomm employees want to defend that kind of behavior (heck, sounds like they even admire it based on their posts below), then they are just as delusional about what it means to be a good leader. Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos are not the new normal - they were/are a$$holes and nobody should have to tolerate that behavior at work or otherwise. Amazingly, scientists have discovered you CAN communicate without being insulting, belittling, demeaning, or even intimidating. When you ignore the human component, you become the heartless, soulless money generator that Qualcomm has become. They lost their way sometime after the soul of the company (Irwin) separated in stages from his creation.

I don’t understand why you need all these sr directors in engineering with one to three reports.

I worked with #7 for many years. He was bluntly honest but definitely not an a$$hole. One of the finest people I've worked with. Incompetent people disliked him.

If you want to find real jerks in QC you don't need to hunter too far.

The problem is you can’t be anonymous. Anything you put WILL be used against you.

Many years ago, when QC was a serious company VPs and Senior Directors would encourage people in their groups to enter their feedback about them. Also if I remember correctly at the time when I left few years ago the review system allowed everyone to enter comments/reviews about everyone.
