In an atmosphere of constant threat of layoffs, politics, terrible management, and possibly the most toxic work environment/culture of any F500 company, how does QC expect to keep its new grads from fleeing for the bay?

What constitutes new grad talent? Sorry, I hate to be one of those, but seen a couple and not worth salt.
I don't expect any company to want to keep this "new grad talent".
Its probably the university fault. Take the parents money and hand them a trophy (degree).
There was one good one and I highly recommended him for retention.
Thank you for the posts. It is very clear that a person successfully graduating from UC will go elsewhere. If they are intelligent enough to make it through UC, they are intelligent enough to select an employer with a successful future.
With that said, only less intelligent grads will come to Qualcomm now resulting in inferior product development. Very sad indeed.
Forget about Qcom. There's no point in a fresh CS grad joining any telecom or embedded devices company. From my experience working in telecom, you had to have a background in telelcom or computer/electrical to have your voice heard and to make an impact. You'd learn a lot more joining a FAANG or any SW startup.
Qcom is still the best place if you want to focus on HW.
Most areas of Q dont want new grads; they simply go to Manpower etc and get a few young otherwise they are packed back to the agency.
How the piss 'staffing agencies' can get H1B visa is an abuse of the system.
I worked at other companies before Qualcomm and definitely the culture was better at those places. The culture at Qualcomm is the worst I have ever encountered in my life. Look at the number of H1Bs that are being treated poorly due to their visa status. I am leaving this depressing place soon anyways. The life is much better outside.
I think in the Q it is difficult to learn new skills. Maybe it is nature of work, but this is a beyond new grads.
People who can't find jobs anywhere for them qualcomm is a good place
Or people who are long time resting n vesting qualcomm is an awesome place..
I am resting and vesting with little work so killing my time here so enjoying life..
Either good people have already left or those remaining have no motivation to work here
My son interned a few years ago from a UC university Qualcomm aggressively recruits from. He apologized to me when he received his offer to join after graduation. He is very happy with where he landed and it's not Q.
More important, he told me there were no longer lines at the Qualcomm campus recruiting booth. And that was two years ago.
I currently have another son at a UC, says little Qualcomm interest at campus recruiting fairs where he attends. Long lines to submit resumes at FANNG and other tech companies. He will intern elsewhere. The Qualcomm death spiral makes me SAD to watch.
Honest opinion: very few companies provide better package than here. And if you had offers from there you wouldn't have joined here.
I told the intern I was mentoring to not join QC. I even offered to give a negative feedback to HR so they don't give him a pre-placement offer :)
I was always amazed when a former intern came back for a full time job. I encouraged more than one to not make the mistake.
No need to flee for the bay. Plenty of openings in SD now and more coming..............
Q is terrible for new grads; thats why we have so many H1Bs from temp agencies. A US grad aint gonna put up with the toxicity and lack of meaningful grad development. Q is stuffed full of middle managers and directors; why would they want to coach/develop the next gen of tech leaders ?
