Software Factory to be sold off?

It appears Broadcom have heavily geared this reorg to mainframe only. When will the software division be sold off or will it be sold in pieces?

so what will the remaining Support Delivery Managers do? turn into direct managers or be fired, or become incident managers? the 16 fired in the US were non-Mf, I imagine. would be interesting to see how the new support org will look like, be it Mf or distributed

@W9brbPr-1xol from what I can see, its about the same across all of Distributed Support. I've heard word that the concept might be to just ignore the smaller customer accounts, and the remaining employees will focus on the biggest accounts. From a customer perspective, things will run along OK until the Spring, and then the wheels will all fall off unless you're a larger customer. Will be interesting to see what happens (from a safe distance, thank goodness I'm gainfully employed Somewhere Else now).

if no replacement plans, this only shows that either the product will be sold, or your team will be outsourced. while they can afford to loose most of the SDMs, they cannot afford to loose most of the engineers as longs as the customer base with paid maintenance contracts remains high

@W9brbPr-1bec - don't forget most of Support! My old group had 12 NA engineers a year ago - all at or above the expected case workload for a typical engineer. By summer there will be only 2 left once all the transitions are gone. I have heard no replacement plans - and it typically takes ONE YEAR to get someone up to speed.

NOT only managers are been fired or put in Transition

Also PMs, Developers, Sales, Presales and Services. The core of a software company

If you're from CA Support, you only had one direct manager. Most engineers were monitored by 1 or more SDMs as well, but that doesn't make them your managers. If you look into the SDMS job description (qms.ca.com), you'll see that SDMs are individual contributors. Not sure what will they do after the acquisition now, I've heard 16 of the US ones have been let go.

"To many layoffs in ESD to survive more than 6 months."

I disagree. CA was hugely bloated as a company. Before the layoffs I had FOUR managers!! Now I only have one... as it should be.
