The OS is more diluted with ULC having Junos and Evo on the same hardware.

It might be one of the urban legends. You heard a lot about it but no customer ever saw it.
ULC is Universal Line Card, basically it can run both Junos and Evo on the same line card. Similarly on the RE, it can run both OS's.
Right performance might go down, but it is linux and once we had RPD on native linux its much better.
I used to work in EVO but never heard of ULC. Does ULC mean running EVO on RE and Junos on line-cards or vice versa? Most likely this started after I left. While I was in Juniper, EVO performance was way lower than Junos. How can you convince any customer to move to a new OS if performance would go down appreciably?
