After 26+ years with BFDS I gave my two week notice. At 10:00am when my manager arrived I asked if we could talk and was told that " I just got here I'll catch up to you later this morning". At 11:40 I was approached and asked "what's up"? Since no one was close by I replied that I was giving my two week notice. The response was simply "fine" and she walked away. At 3:15 I received a meeting invite for 4:30 under the premise of discussing my job duties. I entered the conference room in which my manager and a VP were waiting and before I even sat down I was asked for my desk key and badge as the VP spoke to say "there was no reason for me to come back Monday" and that I had 15 minutes to take my belongings and leave. Thanks for the number of posts here I had already prepared and had taken most of my personal items home and the few items left took just a moment to gather. Now I got three weeks to enjoy before I start with my new employer instead of one.

I was paid for the two weeks, but I believe it was only because I asked. Also rather than direct deposit I received a check in the mail on November 29th.
Did they pay you for the two weeks or was it an instant that day?
Isnt that better.. if they fire you before the 2 weeks cant you claim unemployment
I thank you each. I updated and sent my resume to three specific companies and interviewed with two. I received offers from both and after a negotiation with my preferred choice I accepted their offer.
Congrats! Don't forget to vet every penny they owe you for any vacation time!
You are going to enjoy your new job, I sense a good future for you !!
...slow clap....
Best of luck!!! I resigned in September after 22 years. I had a transitional job for six weeks. I will be starting a job closer to home with comparable pay next week.
Congratulations to you! You, like hundreds of us will enjoy new careers that will take us farther in life than DST and SS & C ever could. And when those self centered managers and VPs get the axe and its comimg sooner than later, maybe just maybe they will finally get it. You just don't disregard and disrespect people in the way that this company has. Congrats on your new future. Applause Applause Applause!
