I see they are laying off lots of people and then there are job openings? Leave dates seem to be all over the place throughout the next year. It seems if you are in Product Engineering or QA you are safe from the low ratings and layoffs? Or is that not the case? Is only backend being affected over the next year? Or are we loosing people from the Fabs also?

Don't work here unless you are planning to work a temporary job and are willing to look for another job soon.
When a company is showing you in many different ways that they don't want you there it's time to leave. I know it is easier said than done, but you are going to have to do that one way or another sooner or later. Pretending it won't happen to you is just wishful thinking. Don't let them make you a victim.
I totally agree with what @W5FeQaV-3zdj say...
This round of lay-off, people in middle and lower level of managements is being caught off guard, even with billions of dollars profit for last few quarters.
This replacement process may continue till last old Guards is out of Micron door.
Everyone in Micron is working with anxiety and worry. When this going to happen to him or her on the next judgement day..... SAD.
I would not recommend working at Micron, you can do better...Backend is the major reduction happening right now -complete at the end of the year. If you are in manufacturing you are not safe from quarterly rankings with number quotas and layoffs. There are several reasons you see job openings along with layoffs. Management cant plan to save their life in this company. They'll blindly follow lead and send people out the door, then panic that they don't have capacity to make their goals. Also, they want young, naive employees ready to believe anything and support their non value added crusades.
