Yearly raises

Has anyone else been denied a raise due to a recent promotion? Example. I moved from position A to position B a few moths ago. And when I changed positions. I got a raise. Now the yearly raises come around and I get nothing. I don’t think that’s right. I could have stayed in position A and be making slightly less cause I would have gotten that raise.. if that makes sense. Is this normal?

This is normal practise within NOV as they try to sc--w your at every opportunity. In real terms, if they didn’t act like this the employees would think a lot more of the company and be more supportive of the management but as someone said, the managers are reluctant to engage their leaders to have discussions regarding paying more, even when it’s justified.
In the UK we had the situation where a guy got promoted and was told the maximum they could allow a raise was 10%, they then employed a new guy on the same team in a lower position on a higher salary, all because no one would challenge the 10% rule!
As you can imagine, we lost both of the guys, one having 20 years loyalty and experience who now does a great job for our competitors and the newer guy who had great potential but was ‘blanked’ by the team who resented him for causing the problem which of course was created by NOV themselves.
Common sense is not very common it seems

I was with company for 14 years. 8 of those year I received no pay raise due to pay freeze or lateral move while management received new 10-15% annual bonus. Don’t believe management and ask for what you’re worth.

This is normal when either changing position or be being promoted, was like that for me as well when I was promoted. I have only had 2% adjustment om my salary since 2014. My current pay does no longer cover my monthly living expenses and I'm relying on the workload being heavy enough for overtime to earn the extra money

Its called a latteral move. No raise tied to that. You just get greased

It wasn’t a promotion per say. It was a position change to a different department. I didn’t have to accept it.

But an annual raise is considered a cost of living increase. You just got yours a little early. I wonder how big upper managements raises and bonuses are this season?

You must be a millennial...boo fkkn hoo!

I’ve seen people get promotions with no raise. Management has no balls to get things approved. Be happy you got a job and even better a promotion with a raise. Those yearly raises are c-ap anyways.

in most companies, upcoming increases are factored into the promotional increase. Additionally, if you've only been in the job a few months, you can't even be effectively evaluated.
