Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

2000 Layoffs and Not a Word Here

Nobody thought that 2000 people getting the axe was worth mentioning I guess. And for those who "survived" all I can say is your survival will be short lived, that is a guarantee.

When corporations start chopping heads this severely, there is a serious problem with revenues and/or profits, and I don't care what the smoke and mirrors9finance)department reports or how "Awesome!" they say the numbers are.

Actions speak louder than words, and this action says it all.

Services group has not been treated well where the people who dont opt for HCL dont even get severance package. They have got a RAW deal. Why is there a discrimination to the group? The obvious answer would be business as usual, but thinking of it how is it business as usual if 95% sales team is fired?

Broadcom WSD is not only profit making, but a star BU/division - isn't it ?? Why did they have to layoff ? Did it impact only under-performers or Senior most ?? This is strange !! Then people are saying no layoffs this calendar year ??

Broadcom's WSD division had a layoff as well. I'm sure you won't read it in any public news forum. All is reported positive while underneath, as posted earlier, it is a ruthless culture with employees managed by fear. I feel sorry for the CA survivors. Everyone is accepting as the stock options $$ keep employees loyal. However, some of the most valuable people who were let go had a large quantity of options due to be vested in March 2019. Ha ha!!!

I find it amusing when people keep responding "no layoffs planned". Are you Hock Tan? How do you know for sure? Wait till the economy hits a recession and stock market goes down by 20%. You will then see what Hock is capable of. There will be no place to hide. Until then keep collecting RSUs and keep your resume up-to-date.

CA is new child for this Semiconductor Company. They will be streamlined and will be taught how to run business. This is one time exercise. Let us not break our head on this. Fact remains erstwhile Broadcom Business remains robust. No layoffs planned.

Software has a completely different culture from hardware. CA people are coming from an industry with lots of nice perks and benefits that help with retention since all the competition provides all those perks. Now its going to a place where all these perks are gone and things ruled by fear.

People at Broadcom actually work, and not write poems, call their executives "BikeBoy" "Octane" etc etc, no wondering half of CA got laid off, a lot of people who didn't do their jobs but enjoyed ENORMOUS benefits.
