Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

We need new direction

It's a wonder Juniper isn't in worse shape than it is, considering the complete lack of leadership and proper direction for the past several years. No matter how many times it becomes obvious that some kind of change is required, those on top just shrug it off, and continue the course.

And then when things fall apart and revenue and profits fail to meet yet another set of goals and projections, they resort to the only thing they know - reorganizations that mean layoffs and more layoffs, and not to forget, layoffs.

I'm starting to think this company would be better off if it was sold to somebody who'd actually have an interest in turning it around, unlike the ones who are currently profiting from status quo...

Comparing Juniper to Apple is like listening to this quote, but way, way worse.

Nothing wrong with smartsizing. Juniper should stop publishing sales numbers, just like Apple will. Just show profits.

Cisco is the market leader. Juniper used to be a fierce competitor giving Cisco a run for its money. It lost its course over a period of time. Even in routing Juniper seems to have slipped to the 4th spot (behind Cisco, Alcatel, and Huawei). Profits have risen despite the decrease in revenue mainly due to cost-cutting. Stock soaring is because of increase in profits and also because JNPR stock was never overvalued like other tech stocks. My guess is $30 is as good as it gets for the stock price, the only way from here should be flat or down.

Due to all this cost-cutting, Juniper is not really innovating anymore. This has to have bad consequences. We live in a fiercely competitive world, especially in the tech sector. With the innovation happening in switching and security in rest of the industry, Juniper would be irrelevant in these sectors in the coming years. Once that happens, get used to Juniper having annual revenue of $4B instead of $5B today. It will still make profits, so the company will still exist.

Agree with the post, I have witnessed the lack of leadership and even when the cliff is coming, the leaders still think it's okay. Mean while layoffs happen over and over. Six layoffs since Jan. 2017 and more to come in January! It is poisonous to careers. Also, the lack of ethics and no following the "Juniper Way" by CEO and staff. unbelievable! and sad.

Nothing, but what you describe is Cisco, not Juniper.

What's wrong with status quo, if you're market leader and making profits? All while stock seems to be soaring.
