Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Logic Fail

I feel like a lot of people have given up the idea of critical thinking and logic and are letting their emotions get the best of them.

Everyone who is left is freaking out that they are not finding out their salary and title until December.

Let me clue you in: you don't need to worry about that. If you got a "stay" letter not much is going to change for you.

Broadcom is not going to do things like:

  • give you a drastic reduction in salary

  • give you a whole different job description

  • etc

If you were retained it's because you are perceived as being valuable to the organization going forward.... it's because what you have been doing all along is necessary and will continue to be necessary.

Broadcom is not going to suddenly ask you to do a whole different job - that would be stupid. If they wanted someone to do a different job they would have either hired some newbie to do that job, assigned an existing BC employee to do the job, or retained someone at CA who already had that job.

Are you a Spectrum developer? Then you will still be a Spectrum developer.

Are you a APM support engineer? Then you will still be an AMP Support engineer.

Don't be foolish. Use your heads.

"Many who were in sales positions are being reassigned to a renewals role. That's a completely different career path and usually screws you out of being able to get another sales position in the future."

This might be the dumbest thing anyone has written on this board.

Let me ask this a different way.... did any TECHNICAL people get offered a substantially different role outside their area of expertise?

No. They didn't.

@W1Hvyaq-1dke What is funny is that back in 2005-2006, when JS changed the commission structure to pay less for renewals and focused almost entirely on new revenue, the sales people **** a brick. Most considered renewals easy money.

Lol are you serious?

Sales and renewals are not "completely different roles."

Anyone got a real one?

BS. Many who were in sales positions are being reassigned to a renewals role. That's a completely different career path and usually screws you out of being able to get another sales position in the future.

I agree with the previous poster, if you are on transition and got a substantially different role, tell us your old and new role

what role?

if you were a "principal software engineer" and now you're going to be just a "software engineer" that doesn't count.

I don’t get it... for months everyone was complaining and worried about having a job, and now they’ve been given a stay and complain about working. Be grateful you have a job. 5k others today no longer have that pleasure. If you wanted to leave you should have said so and I’m 100% sure someone would be glad to take your spot

No one that I know of has even found out what their job is. The stay letter only says that you'll find out your job in December. If you've got something different, put your money where your mouth is and post a copy.

Yeah, not true. I already know they are asking me to do a very different job, with details and compensation to be discussed later.
