Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Heard of about 6K terminations and transitions in total

Heard of about 6K terminations and transitions in total are in various states of notification. At least a few of the units (BU) are being and have been shopped around for bids, including most Enterprise (aka Distributed) that is not closely tied or essential to Mainframe. I've had inquiries from private equity firms regarding Rally, CD, Automation and Security. Expect sites to be consolidated around lowest cost centers, so ITC (India) and Prague will gain while Islandia, Plano (ex MF) and Santa Clara will shrink or disappear.

You must be a newbie if you think this was one of the most insensitive layoffs - its not even the worst one I've seen at CA. I remember one about 15 years back where they made a whole department stay at their desk for the day - so they could be CALLED one by one about whether or not they were being let go. That looks like pure hell watching them from 50 feet away.

Or how about the saga of the UIM development office in Fort Collins a few years ago? New GM tells everyone they need to centralize to Fort Collins - fire everyone who won't move there. Then less then a year later the GM is out, the new new GM decides to close the Fort Collins office and CA gets rid of most of the people there - rest have to commute to Boulder. By now I assume they're all gone, LOL. Can you imagine pulling up stakes and going cross country, just to be stabbed in the back a few months later?

I used to joke that the executives up on 6th should just give up the pretense and just walk around with paint guns and make some sport of it - if you can avoid being tagged for a whole work day, you get to spend another year at CA!

I'll miss the people I worked with over the years - great bunch - but the executive culture at CA was always the worst.

Get a grip on complaining about the insensitive layoffs, it’s life, the business isn’t here for you

Saw the "list". It was 87 pages long with about 50 rows per page of everyone that was laid off today. People were carrying out their personal effects in trash bags because no one bothered to provide boxes.

This is one of the most insensitive layoffs I've ever seen.

Dumbfounded as why anyone would want to stay at CA after being lied to for at least the past two years as Mikey G and company were trying to take the company private and sell to BMC just last year. After that failed, they decided to make himself, and a few others, millions on an exit strategy.

Many of us, including myself, jumped ship earlier in the year as saw this coming. Such as shame, as the company in 2017 finally hit it's revenue numbers for the first time since 1999.

If you honestly believe that current CA customers not are actively looking at replacing existing products with those from BMC, Compuware, IBM and the like, then you are fooling yourself. That $4B+ revenue stream will diminish year after year and CA was it was know will die a slow death.

I was let go as part of the 800 reduction in May and the hardest thing was that I would no longer be working with some really fantastic people. Even no I feel a sense of sorrow for what has happened to CA and the impact on so many people.

My frustration and anger over everything has dissipated greatly since the layoffs, but last night I had to say goodbye to one of my best friends as she moved across the country for a new job, and the reminder that I won’t be able to work with my friends anymore was so so painful.

If you think Broadcom is done selling off acquired entities, you are being very naive

Nope. You "heard" wrong. Rally, automation, and security are going nowhere. Veracode is all that's getting sold off, and its already happened. That deal was set months ago.

We knew Services was not going to make the cut in present form.

We knew Veracode, who hasn't been profitable yet nor integrated into CA, was gone.

We knew Broadcom runs a tight ship and was going to cut things to the bone. The bloat was never needed, and it's needed even less now as the customer base is going to shrink dramatically.

Know what else didn't happen? Broadcom didn't try to take anyone's severance. In fact, some termed are getting more severance than they were eligible for. In fact, almost none of the fearmongering BS peddled on this site happened.

Sure, it stinks people got termed. But how often do you get several months heads up that you may lose your job? Most of the time you find out when your badge doesn't work one morning when you show up to work. If you were caught by surprise today there is honestly no one you can blame but yourself.

"Expect sites to be consolidated around lowest cost centers?" Really? Do you think? It's almost like Broadcom wants to be profitable or something. Next thing you know they will perform reviews and hold people accountable for their performance like pretty much every other company in the world. The horror.

I have some breaking news as well. Expect the sun to come up tomorrow morning, then set again tomorrow night.

C'mon, dude. Stop posting c-ap.

This is false. Can you prove it? Of course you can't.

Very good, probably the best thing to come out of all of this acquisition.
