Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Asking for a friend

I am curious if we could make up some crazy a$$ position such as, I don’t know let’s call it EHS Manager of planning, budget, and communications. If so can we magically create this job and then not post for it and not allow others the opportunity to apply but rather let’s select some shoe shiner to occupy this position. If we could do something along the lines of this, I really think we could really increase our moral and show people what we really think of them.

Sounds to me like EHS has some internal issues going on. Who would have thought that the group that we have been told for the last few years is the example by which groups should admire doesn’t quite have their act together as well? What a joke.

Ok now. Everyone pipe down. I just want to take this opportunity to discuss about my 6 year tenure here and how I came in as an individual contributor and have not once but twice been removed from management. While some may view this as demotions I look at this as opportunities to learn and continue to develop my great leadership abilities. While we are talking about my leadership abilities, let me tell you about all the times that I have led our dog for a walk and the many discussions I have led on the proper mixing recipie for the many jams and jelly’s we make. These experiences have all led me to this moment where I have been given a third time to shine. I want each of you to take this opportunity to realize that just when you think that things are bad and there is no hope, days like today occur and remind everyone exactly where you stand in the eyes of Chesapeake. If you never learn anything else from my model behavior at least walk away knowing this. When things are looking bad and that no one trusts your insincerity anymore, you must crawl deeper into the dark brown cave of protection. For it is only there where you can muster long enough to create deception and emerge as a new leader ready to do the masters biddings.

They would never do this because just a short 9 months ago, we laid off a number of people in management roles because we were eliminating a level of unnecessary management. If they were to create this so called management position, that would be like them saying one thing but doing another. We all know that our stellar upper management is the standard of ethics and integrity and would never betray their own employees that look for them to demonstrate how good leaders operate. Our leaders are ones that create inspiration and devotion and motivate others to excel. Insert more sarcasm here. These high caliber leaders are why we have almost doubled our stock price in the last 12 months all while reducing our debt. With leaders like this, who needs enemies.

If and that is a big IF they chose to create this odd position. I would hope they would not assign three people to any brown noser that may be lurking in building 15. If they did, I would imagine that would be like three peoples careers going to the gallows. They would all be on display for the rest of the sheepeckers to watch.
