Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Good!!!

As a remedy, Sanders and Rep. Ro Khanna, D.-California, on Wednesday proposed legislation that would impose a 100 percent tax on companies equal to the amount of federal benefits received by their employees. If a worker collected $2,000 in food stamps, for instance, the employer would be taxed $2,000 to cover the cost. The requirement would apply to any company with more than 500 workers.

Home office has been having constant layoffs for about three years now. I think there’s only around 14,000 home office workers in northwest Arkansas these days. I heard at one point it was close to 20,000.

Also, they’ve fired TONS of Directors. It’s to the point that a lot of people don’t want to be a Director because they are afraid they’ll get caught in a layoff.

Also, there are hundreds of "directors" at WM Home Office....base pay from $130k to $170k ...35 to 40% percent bonus, RSR's of over $30 k a year. Little Dougie and the Bored of Directors should be ashamed, but they do not care about you store minions.

I prefer less people at Home Office and cut some of the millions to stockholders and CEO to pay the people that got them where they are! Break some of it down and give it to consumers. Companies have to make it work or step aside!

That’s not my problem! If companies can’t keep up with a living wage after 10 years of $7 step aside!

Where do you think the money will come from to increase the so called "living wage "? The company isn't going to take it out of their profits, so they cut "expenses ". Expenses being payroll, either by cutting hours or employees. Which do you prefer?

Companies play the benefits game all the time anyway. Pay a living wage I’ll get benefits somewhere else!

Unfortunately it won’t work the way that they would like. Seattle was one of the first to do the so-called “living wage” increases. The result was that employees would cut their hours to be under the threshold to still be eligible for benefits.

Times up! Companies need to pay a living wage and should be over $20.

@yaj You either pay a living wage where people don't need government assistance or you continue with what we have - corporations underpaying their employees and the government subsidizing them. Pick one. You can't have it both ways.

I'll bet you have no problem with all the corporate welfare out there. Dotard Tramp imposed tariffs this year which hurt farmers. What did he do? Provided corporate welfare for them.

I'll even help you with a link: http://blogs.lse.ac.uk/usappblog/2018/07/30/trumps-12-billion-farm-subsidies-are-a-solution-to-a-political-problem-of-his-own-making/

Corporations and farmers are getting corporate welfare. Why can't Mr. and Mrs. Main St?

Exactly! How about people decide for themselves what a living wage is and go get a job that pays accordingly. Oh but that would require people to take responsibility and we can't expect that!
