Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

What about CA Laptops do ITC employees have to return them?

Do the impacted employees in ITC have to return laptops? I heard broadcom has different standards for their employees.

GIS is not there doesn't mean you don't need to return or you will manage IT on your own. It is going to be outsourced to some service provider like HCL or Wipro.

Try to understand the difference.

Your laptops must be returned. This is CA policy and it has been stated on Yammer repeatedly. As wasteful as it sounds, this is done for compliance reasons and there are no exceptions.

CA does not ask for mobile phones to be returned unless you are in a country that requires it. CA has always been very friendly about letting employees keep their mobile phones as well as the phone number.

Your CA devices, including laptops, are assigned to you in GIS. It does not matter how old your laptop is or if it came from an acquisition, CA knows you have it and will demand its return when your employment ends. Failure to comply will result in penalties including forfeiting any severance or termination package you are owed.

Keep it up with the name calling and racist comments and the few people here with knowledge of what is actually going on will leave.

I think this question is legit. Of course we all know the policy of CA that laptops must be returned upon your leaving. But situation is different now, don't you see it? On the 5th of November CA will cease to exist with all its policies altogether. It will be up to Broadcom to decide if they really need these outdated and used laptops. What are they going to do with it? To sell on flee markets?

Don't ask your managers any questions about laptops! Quietly keep your laptop until and unless you are explicitly asked to return it. In the coming mess of digesting of such a big piece as CA they may well forget about you. Don't believe what people are telling you now, wait until after Nov 5, when dust is settled. And if Broadcom firmly requests to return it, then..., well,...you may, first, try to negotiate a buyout for a small amount of money. But if they still insist on returning, then, as an honest guy, you have to return it!

This question has been answered on Yammer. Every employee must return laptops so they can be wiped by GIS. Phones can be kept not sure why since they have data like emails. What company lets you keep a laptop after you leave or get laid off?
