Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Thinking joining a small hw company here in SD

Company future is questionable, might find myself out searching the market in a year or two. Opportunity seems interesting enough to consider for new experience and development.

Should i insist they match my current pay? Would they even do that? Heard smaller companies arent good payers around here.

after 10 years of experience, do you need to do poling? LOL. Cant you do your own research and decide your own price? No wonder Why you are still at Q and Q like these kind of people, indecisive, yes only, 9-5.

10 years work experience for only 135k base. That’s really rip off. No wonder so many ppl left this trash place.

Over 10 years in asic development. 135k base. Used to change projects every 18 month on the average, so kind of tired doing same thing couple years now. Looking for some fresh change and maybe a growth opportunity. Several attempts to switch internally didnt materialize, so looking outside. Feel strangled and need some fresh air. Small co, after some negotiations offered 140k but they have no stock plan. Im afraid to loose the opportunity if i insist they match base+stock. Should i take the pay cut?

Tell us what job you do at Q and what Q pays YOU. I've been a manager for a long time. I have seen large salary variances within title. If you are already low paid then you may get an offer for more. I've had managees leave for bigger offers. Also leave for less money, better company.

I'd look at the opportunity and marketability of the skills from both places. One thing that can happen at QCOM is getting pigeon holed doing the same thing over and over.

Year or two? Start looking after RSUs vest. Look at total compensation vs pay only.

Why not? Q doesn't pay particularly well.
