When will that be? There are plenty of people that have nothing to do so they know they are on the chopping block.

I forgot what the original post was about, but @VtZSTv0-kad, you nailed it. I say this all of the time and people just say “no, you do a great service for the students, you’re job is so meaningful.” In reality, it’s pretty meaningless, I’ve always felt higher ed in a design field is just a farce. Lots of work, high cost and tiny salary for graduates. But it pays well. Or did once. Maybe I’ll be a chair or dean one day.
1tnk Hmm. Got your toes stepped on.
VtZSTv0-kad- long winded BS- doubt anyone got through the first 3 sentences

Ah ha! What you have uncovered is axiomatic across all industries and job caregories. An incredibly large percentage of people will spend an entire career doing no or very little work but still hang in to receive promotions and collect pensions with fulsome 401Ks, etc.
Many bosses, supervisors and chairs do no work but are more than happy to claim others' work product as their own. These people in some circles are often referred to as "glory hounds." They cower under the radar and have taken to heart the old Chinese adage that the exposed nail always gets the hammar.
The theatre of the absurd aspect of all this is that if you complain about having to incessanly do the work of others to your supervisor, let's say, you will be written up as being not a team player while labeled a disgruntled employee and eventually fired for not working well with others.
I almost forgot to mention that the little work that bosses, supervisors and chairs do is to write whomever up; especially if you try, in their eyes, to disrupt the status quo by petulently insisting that others work too.
So you could say that no work product production is actually doing the real work of any typically malignant all American worksite like DCEH and for the students sake this is probably a good thing.
The people that do the least have been the safest so far. Mismanagement of resources is what they do best!
