Amazing how select few privileged ones are getting rehired. What a joke this place is...friends, spouses of those not laid off are being rehired!!!
Ethics and code of conduct are always a suspect.

The cynicism of this rehiring is just appalling. Out of 14nm managers, only 2 were laid off, while close to 20% of engineers were given the boot.
Guess what? One of those managers is baaack after 2 months of paid vacation + healthcare. Not bad, huh?
The organization is EXTREMELY top heavy. Who's gonna work then?
Not just GF. This screwed up nepotism runs rampant throughout the high tech industry. If you have a well regarded relative in any of these companies, they will find you a position even if you have minimum qualifications. Many non-qualified people get hired and then veg out into nothing but deadwood getting a paycheck.
Still a losing game, I can think of at least 8 Level 8 and aboves that have left or announced they are leaving the company since the layoff (including yours truly who will be leaving next week). Personally don't know of anyone that has been rehired back to GF, I know several that have been hired to IBM. Rumours are abounding of more mass layoffs in Q1-2019. Thanks to Tom C for the kick in the a**, it's time to move on - Sayonara, Malta.

Can you name them? We can’t. Sounds like someone is upset they didn’t get a new role.
I think GF is probably playing a big game here, I don't think they were ever out of system, they were always bound to come back. Looking at those senior levels back it almost seems that nothing ever happened. They just got a free one month paid vacation and to stay hush. It would be really strange that the SLT did not realize the gap of the re-hired senior levels during all these months of preparation of layoff and suddenly one month out of the layoffs and they realize what a huge gap it was, again funny business going on here, just like white-house working like a well oiled machine. Can you just sell it off to one of money making foundries. Again the greedy IBM SLT will try to make a huge cash before bailing out. You can even see the green nose of the SLT.
