Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Mid to late October layoffs

As it was mentioned in another thread, mid to late October layoffs make perfect sense considering that open enrollment begins in November. If I were a betting man, I'd say that's when we are going to see the next major round.

So don't say you were not warned in time...

HR wasn't flown out to Southfield. With us out of the office by 11/30 I'd expect a big percentage of the next cut to be there.

Well? Which location are you where they flew out hr?

Why would they fly HR in town this week to talk about open enrollment when all BS aka Bill Stone has done is cut travel. Benefits could easily be handled inhouse like those meetings last week. Layoffs on the other hand considering we have no inhouse HR, well?

Layoffs can happen at any time for any reason.

When you least expect it, expect it. That's how it always goes.

Yes. anyone who works at DST knows there are more layoffs coming. This is old news.

If you are afraid of losing your job, look for a new one, simple! Not sure why so many are still posting threads like this. The company is being dismantled. You can either react to the layoff or be proactive and get another job. What a way to waste the best years of your life waiting for a layoff.

I think it's understood that there are people who've been told their last day is in October, I don't know if there's a specific date for these people, does anyone know? I speculate there are about 150 of these due to the SS&C filing that said 1,000 will be let go this year. In June it was about 850, that leaves 150.

Otherwise, deeper layoffs for those that have not been told? All we have here is speculation. Yes it makes sense to lay off before open enrollment. But does it really matter? Do they care if they have to do the paper work twice (enroll, unenroll)? It's probably not that big of an issue. Maybe someone who knows can comment?

About 6 months until April and they can do the (presumably) cheaper severance package.

It is confirmed by the end of October there will be a layoffs. Upper management has to lie to there employees faces to save there job. Problem is everybody knows its being done before open enrollment. This makes every person in upper management a lieing fool. If you get the satisfaction of seeing your upper manager look stup!d just ask if theres a layoff this month.
