We all have our favorite story of How Enbridge tosses $1000 bills around. With many of our friends and coworkers facing layoffs we should document how easy it would be to retain them if not for the short sighted spending our wonderful company thinks is important.

Have you seen the conversation tool and FAQ for the dress code policy? Clearly someone in HR has nothing better to do. Why not talk to some employees like your care instead? There was once this thing called common sense. It has been replaced with thick binders of policies and manuals.
Same goes for folks in change management. I know you try to roll out what the text book says and develop info graphics and tools. Unfortunately BOEF and other critical changes have been terribly executed. Great MBA topic for those working on theirs on the companies dime. Title of report: What not to do.
2 words. Dynamic Workplace. Biggest waste of money ever!! Demoralizing to boot
Thankfully my PL doesn’t waste any money on recognition. Always doing their part for the bottom line. Inspiring.
Pretty much every team building event I ever heard of.
Buffalo round up
Trips to Banff
Hockey games galore
Just the tip of the iceberg
Keeping contractors on E&C projects well past when it's time for them to hit the road. They get paid well for a reason, it's not intended to be a long lasting job, however it seems to be the popular thing to keep 15 inspectors for 2 miles of pipe that's already in the ground!
Someone has to be fired in Finance and\or TIS for throwing away money in implementing a product to replace Markview that in the end had to be aborted because it does not work. One result of the Spectra merger is that decisions on what products to implement are made based on political considerations rather than practical ones.
700k signing bonus for BR. (Granted dude had a Yaht to sail up from the caribe)
GH 2.something MM buyout
Seriously IP dude!?!? Give it a rest already!!! No one cares to hear about you or your orchestrated comments!
On the contrary, the best value dollars spent by Enbridge are those allocated to Infrastructure Planning. The salaries and bonus money spent on this group are basically highway robbery compared to the value churned out by their elite group of talent and skills. So while it's easy to point out poor wasteful spending, bear in mind you can't win them all. But with Infrastructure Planning the company has hit a Home Run
What does BEOF mean?
One group has one director, 5 managers, and 15 direct reports (employees and contractors).
Another one is that enbridge project teams always bend over for contractors who successfully drain enbridge of millions of dollars by getting away of not performing required work as per design and standards.
There is lots of examples, but i need to get back to my work computer to continue shopping for Christmas gifts before my shift is over.
How about all the managers that manage less than 6 people? We have a ton of managers with less than 6 direct reports. Most managers dont do any work, they "manage", so they should be able to manage 6 people. Enbridge' s rule of 3 direct reports is stupid. So that means for 9 people, we will have 3 managers and then 1 director bc he will have 3 direct reports managers. So for 9 people, we have 4 supervising bodies each costing way more than the worker and adding zero value. GENIUS !!!!!!
OK, I'll play! My favorite is the money spent on careerscapes. Not only do they cost hundreds of dollars each, we even ordered them for employees that were BEOF'd! How's that for cost control?
