It looks like not just management but professionals that are contracting at American will be the first in line to get laid off too. It's an irate and back stabbing environment over there right now. Best to put your resumes out and move on because there is no grace. We see employees walked out with no thank you or good bye by security each day. No fun!

Contractors aren't first in line for layoffs, as the company is /contractually/ bound to honor those contracts before its own full-time employees.
The full-time employees that are underutilized, new full-time employees that have been with the company for less than 4 years, or longer-tenured employees that have large salaries are usually the first to go. This isn't just AA, but this is with most companies.
