The cost savings (labor reduction) far outweighs the benefits of going custom.

Only graphics folks are tackling hard and complex problems, pushing the envelope. Rest are having it easy. Graphics should be handed over entire MM responsibility.
This company is rotting from the inside. Throw it all out, license everything, gut that team not this team. People are at each other's throats. Management is responsible for the lack of teamwork and the horrible morale.

I'd argue modem will be less imp after 5g, whereas gpu will be the next top seller for QC. Hope QC sells it standalone
I've always thought the GPU was the best part of the SDM, after the modem. The GPU is better or on par with the iPhone. Only reason CPU on iPhone is better because they have 2x-3x the cache. No reason to have custom CPU anymore.
Jealously. Gpu is the only block improving bigly on all metrics over years and forward. Wait until Gpgpu drives home my point.
