The whole less phones to chose from is BS. It's because apple is so popular that they wouldn't want any protest from consumers of any sort.
I don't know whether Qcom is double dipping. If you ask the legal community, they'll say that Qcom's business model isn't wrong. But whether it's right or wrong doesn't matter. Apple signed a business contract knowing about this 'double dipping.' This deal now is the same deal back when they signed it.
If they didn't like the deal, they shouldn't have signed it.
Government has ruled that Apple has violated 3 patents, but says consumers will have less choice if iPhone is banned. There's plenty of alternative phone brands. This sounds like another 'too big to fail' case.
