Thread regarding Viacom Inc. layoffs

Stealthy layoffs, a few at a time?

Is it just me, or is this the latest style of Viacom layoffs? Stealthy, just a few people at a time kind of thing?

We used to have regular rounds of layoffs and then be safe until the next one, but now it seems we hear about another layoff of two or three people every week.

It's nerve wrecking. I'd much rather deal with the stress of an occasional full round than constantly worry if today will be my day.

There is life after Viacom people!!!! Love my new job and they treat people right here! And yes working for Viacom was depressing and belittling- one of the darkest times of my life. But it’s over and now I’m happy

For what it's worth the media does watch this page so even if they don't have to report it to the government, it's not as if it's flying completely under the radar that Viacom is carefully and slowly shedding staff in the US.

I was laid off from Viacom 5 years ago. My layoff was apart of a 40 person layoff. These are called surgical layoffs. Small layoffs as to avoid bad press for the company. The days of the mass layoffs were over when I was let go. Viacom HATES bad press.

As someone who was laid off recently, I totally agree. Completely nerve racking. You have people working their asses off hoping that it isn't them until they get the dreaded call. Once I got the call I realized just how much stress I was under for over 6 months and it was such a let down to know that all of that hard work was for nothing. Miss the good ones but happy to be moving on to a healthier environment.
