Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

UIM and Spectrum

Hockey Tan loves Infrastructure products but we are hearing noises that CA is looking to offload the infrastructure monitoring products like UIM and Spectrum. Talks show that IBM is looking to swoop to add depth to their Tivoli Monitoring portfolio.

Anyone heard similar noise?

Who buys current UIM? Primary developers and management have already been gone.

Take it easy honey. I know you are from itc and hurt. My piece of advice don’t be attached to any piece of code.

@Vmcjr8K-nuw More like screwed up by US team who cannot write maintainable core. ITC did what it could, real problem was US People who gave us c-ap to work with.

I know nothing about UIM or APM - I am a Spectrum guy - but in terms of speaking generally I think IBM will take some (not all) and possibly only for long enough to do a knowledge transfer. I actually worked for IBM Support long ago and I think most of their support is offshore now.

IBM also does not allow work from home so you better hope you live near an IBM office. Lots of them here in NY but I am not sure about other places.

If IBM buys CA Spectrum &CA UIM and fits it in IBM Infrastructure tools, what happens to employees working with CA in those tools support, development & etc.

Will IBM takes staff of CA working on those tools

What about APM? Does it make sense to be sold together with UIM and Spectrum?

There has been a very large deal in the works with IBM and UIM so I actually would not be surprised.

It'll be dire on IBM to buy a Swedish code base refined in Colorado and screwed up in ITC. You'd have to smoke a few joints to get that UIM working and then some more South American herbs to get the Spectrum integration working. Their Support is good though.
