Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Prague Office - Future or Failure?

There are a lot of rumors flying around the Prague Office that Hock has decided to pull the plug.

He has a preference for people IN COUNTRY on the sales side of things, and rather than have 60 in Prague he would have 6 in their countries. Would be interested to hear people's opinions.

Is it bye-bye Bohemia?

Prague is mostly mainframe at this point anyway, so even if reduction happen most will be for distributed product. My team is getting onboarding from projects getting transitioned to us from US team, so I'm not worried. It's pretty safe to be in Prague or ITC if you ask me, it's americans who have to worry about getting cut. Who knows, maybe product quality will finally go up once all that work is transfered to teams that know what they do. :)

Half of the time we don't understand what Prague team is even speaking and we feel better working with ITC than Prague. Technically , I worked with both Prague and ITC and I found ITC stronger especially product management.

But in terms of taking my job away..both of them compete with each other...god bless America...

Prague mgrs are just insecure teens who cant believe they hold the position they hold, so they are just looking out for themselves and panicking now, knowing they will be laid off. Open communication towards teams has never been a priority and obviously its not a priority now.

Mainframe in Prague stays. All other people are no longer needed. Massive outsourcing of services. Managers just don't have balls to tell it straight to their teams here.

AdT, I know that for a fact, this has been confirmed by a well-known VP. Mainframe fat stacks of cash will be used solely for acquiring Czech breweries. Isn’t this the weirdest acquisition ever.

I heard also a rumor that Hock liked a lot the Czech beer, do you think Broadcom next move will be to acquire Pilsner Urquell Brewery ?

What’s written here is b---s---. Prague is fine apart from sales. If you are a developer etc you have a job. Mainframe is Prague. They’re not going to keep sales in Prague because it’s digital sales and they couldn’t tell their a-- from their elbow. Thank god we don’t have to work with them anymore, we do the work they get paid for putting it on SFDC, ridiculous.

"Yes, its confirmed. Prague office will be shut-down. Confirmed by a well known VP."

Really? "Well known VP" personally told you this? You look like a troll to me.

Hey, guys from Prague, good morning! How do you feel out there? Any recent info about your office?

Does it concern developers, sales/customer success/education or both? If so, it would be good, Prague labour market is super healthy and it is easy to find a job, but the uncertainty is terrible.

Its a shame, Prague is one of the few locations with talented developers, much better than US locations. Shutting it down will be a major mistake.

It's clear that Hock has decided to move towards a more partner driven model as seen in previous acquisitions. To me it makes sense to continue on that path and slash the head count.
