It is so sad in Islandia. Is anyone else hoping to go in Phase 1?
The only reason I am sticking around is for the slim chance of getting bonus (prorated), options and severance.
Are you worried about losing your job or waiting to get severance?

I dont work in US but if they should pay like the August layoffs tomorrow i will be a candidate or rather this evening....
All support is not getting their walking papers on Nov 5th I guarantee it.
90 to 99 % is a possibility but not all. A handful will be retained as subject matter experts for knowledge transfer.
I really hope they finally show my a-- the door. They have no real work for me over last year. Why do I always survive layoffs is beyond me. I’ve been interviewing and looking for the right move. Should I ask my leadership to put me on this list?
Its going to be a blood bath in November there is no doubt about that. All support HR, Finance, Contracts, Education etc will get their walking papers on November 5th.
yessssssssssss please!! pay me to leave
Worst-case scenario? To be offered by subpar job at Broadcom. I hope they will fire me in Nov :)
If you get enough severance and RSUs it makes up for being before the holiday season. There is no stigma in getting laid off as part of a company sale.
I’m torn - a Day 1 release would guarantee RSU delivery, WARN and any severance but puts one out in the job market at a bad season. A day 2 release means some extra transition pay and a longer time to find the right job, but I fear Broadcom will come up with creative ways to renege on severance and RSU’s. Day 2 also means up to six months of water boarding as they can release you at any time. F—k Bikeboy for putting thousands of us in this position.
Can we finally stop advertising these stupid office bike races on the home page? Let’s move on to the next CEO fetish - at least that’s a real charity.
I'm really hoping for severance which usually means i'll be retained permanently. That's my kind of luck.
No since phase 1 is soon and no one hires in Nov or Dec and Jan is better.
You hope for the best and plan for the worst. It depends on what your best/worst scenarios are. If my job is not going to be as awesome as it currently is (I truly enjoy working for CA) and I've got a job lined up then I hope to get laid off. If my job is going to be the same just under a different company, then I hope to stay.
Prepare for both. Resumes, recruiters, even get some quick first-round interviews under your belt. Time will be of the essence. I've done all those and I'm not stopping to prepare until the dust settles no matter which direction I'm told to go.
