Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

When will the layoff start? What's with the date 5 Nov? Isn't Oct the start of Q4?

We were told we would know our fate by Oct 20. Told to start looking. CA Agile central will roll into maintence mode and only a handful will be offered "transition" letter. Rest will get pink slip. Not divesting.

Latest is that the close could come as soon as Oct 15 due to the 45 day financial lookback days in sec filing.

Read Guy's Yammer post. He said it will most likely be the end of the first pay period after the close.

Yes, broadcom can't do anything until the deal is closed. Broadcom can tell you the intention but we can't do anything before Nov 5. You can't layoff people who are not in your company.

When CA did major acquisitions in the late 90’s through 2000 the date of the layoffs was the day of or right after the official date of the acquisition becoming final.

Until that point it is still CA doing any layoffs, and no more have been announced after the previous 800. So don’t expect anymore in the US until then

Someone who knows Broadcom can comment if that’s how they do it too.

All these are speculations "Theoretically" , "Rumor has it" ,"My understanding" and yes there will be cut downs , quantifying the number of folks and putting a date b4 5th is BS.

if confused , plan for b. no choice wait for it. don't stress yourself , that too over above speculations.

Rumor has it, not all non-mainframe software will be divested. They will keep the software, send into maintenance mode and layoff majority. Some already know, some will likely know in the next couple of weeks and rest around Nov 5th. Don't hold your breath hoping to have a job in couple of months. Investors and VPs will have their pockets filled so the loss of 3000-5000 jobs has little impact on their lives.

Theoretically CA can't layoff CA people before Nov 5 without Broadcom's consent, since Broadcom signed for the purchase letter to CA. All the layoff will most likely happen Nov 5, but due to law (states or Other countries), CA/Broadcom has to report to employees before Nov 5.

My understanding from people who were involved in the integration process is except mainframe pretty much everything has good chances of being either divested or outsourced. In the distributed if something has to survive it will be apim, spectrum, and security products.

The start of the CA quarter means nothing anymore. CA will never file another 10K again. November 5th is the expecting closing day of the sale. Don't expecting any non-already planned layoffs before that date. There are probably a few dozen people that will exist on October 30th, but they were notified about that back in May. If you are in NA you almost certainly know your fate before 11/5.
