Our leadership used to go through each question during the debrief session and berate the team over the score, saying things like no one had a right to give him anything less than a perfect score. It just seemed that they shouldn't have a survey if the only acceptable responses were a perfect score for the leader. Do they get some sort of extra bonus for perfect scores, or what?

This is the first time in my tenure that I'm refusing to take the survey. Nothing becomes of it except resentment and disappointment.

@VjYcLNU-1et - Doesn't your team have an AES debrief session? Mine does and it is always very helpful. We can share ALL our ideas - both good and bad and there is NEVER any retailation in my dept. The Open Door is alive and well in my world.

I've taken the survey every year and bashed the mngrs and I have to say so far I have never been retaliated against for my answers. But remember, you are signed into the wire so if they really wanted to find out who you are, I'm sure they could. I dont care if they do find out what I say. If they dont want to know the truth, they shouldn't ask the questions!!

For the person who said they listen to their ideas via the survey. Where are on the survey are they gathering your ideas? Further, even if they did listen, listening versus acting on ideas are very different things.

The survey scoring utilizes a Likert Scale where the respondent rates the survey question on their level of agreement. Strongly Agree, Agree, Neither Agree or Disagree, Somewhat Disagree, Strongly Disagree.

Most people who have taken the AES know a few things about it. It is not anonymous, despite the claim that it is, and those who take it and give unfavorable responses are subject to retaliation.

What’s the point? If you tell the truth, they try to find out who the dissenters are and fire you.

Nobody wants that.
