Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Layoffs are coming, nobody can change that

It doesn't matter if it's tomorrow or in a week or month or year. The point is it's coming. If you manage to survive one round, chances are huge you will not have that much luck in the next one.

Stop passively waiting for something you can't prevent and start actively working on putting yourself in a better position.

Update your CV, contact old coworkers who changed companies, start checking job postings...do something. There's really no need to wait until you are laid off.

Anyone thinking there will be less than 50% of the workforce laid off day one is fooling themselves. Some departments will be gutted 95%.

This is no "kindler, gentler" acquisition where people are told "we love you and want to grow your career". It is financial engineering.

Start planning now, and when you get your severance take a week off to enjoy and then hit the job search.

If you are on Long Island, I wish you luck as you are likely screwed. No other employer outside of NYC will pay you the same wage you got at CA with the same benefits and quality of life. Get used to the idea of commuting into Manhattan or sell your house and move somewhere cheaper.
