Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Could this end in a Compuware/Dynatrace scenario ?

Where they just keep the mainframe and then most of the rest of the company is kept intact including HR, marketing, sales, finance and sold to a private equity and continues to run as a separate entity?

PAM has very high profit margins too, so that is another product they may very well keep. I believe it is well above 50%.

At a software company, all you need are people to sell software, people who build and design, and people who fix the product when it breaks... That's it... All these other functions are not imperative to the success of the business.

Possible? Sure.

Likely? No.

Reality is Mr Tan's 'infrastructure' that he's trying to build is probably Mainframe, Automic, UIM, Spectrum, etc based on some of his recent statements.

The rest of the products are probably a combination of spin-off, divestiture, and let die. Sure some BU's could be sold off as a unit....security has a set of products that are integrated, though not well. Heck some of the products depend on APIM so if it doesn't go with them they are kinda screwed.

Agile Ops, well if you take the dev ops pieces out of it, what are you left with? APM is a great set of tech that someone should snap up quickly, many of those that put it back on the map have already left. Rally (the team more than the product) are incredible, but where could they really fit?

The bloodshed is coming fast

It's getting darker by the day.

False hope. Supporting function such as HR, Legal, Finance don't bring any value, why any private fund should even bother? All these function will be most-likely gone within six month post-close. Fraction of people might be divest together with non-mainframe part of company but I would expect cuts up to 30-40% in the supporting area in day 1 and another 50% within following months.
