There are ups and downs in every organization , Juniper is still a great organization with few great people left. Most of the times when people leave they don’t leave the company, its the terrible manager they can’t stand. So was the case for me, my manager was an incompetent, immature, total id--t kind of guy who had absolutely zero skills of being a manager. Juniper needs to go back to their core values on how they used to hire great people. If they keep on promoting people to management just because they have been hanging around for years , its soon gameover. What amazes me in all this is , the higher management (dir, VP) are very well aware of the situation but choose to keep their ears and eyes closed.

CONtrail is way better then the rest of the cesspool. This group has no elms of being superior to rest of the dogs**t that Junkier is. They have a complex, but it's with equal distribution and without any malicious intent. These are the best we have, the rest is a cesspit of nepotism, racial discrimination and ulterior agendas. Here your nationality/color/religion/caste is all that matters. Rest of Junkier is only trying to screw each other in every possible way. You can expect everything you do will be stolen for the benefit of upper one's connected and related. CONtrail doesn't discriminate in ignoring rest of Junkier and the senior management. There is no one with sense remaining in vast majority of teams, they have all left or been shown the door. It's a sinking ship in every sense.
The worst leaders - managers, directors and VPs, CxOs work at Juniper. It is an absolute sh-- pit, cesspool where the scum has definitely floated to the top.
The leaders are cunning and hold various annual surveys to pretend they want to hear from the employees and make changes, however they do nothing to change the bad stuff that happens right underneath their noses.
Juniper has poor management, worldwide. Not just Sunnyvale, Westford and Bangalore. It is a problem that has developed over years due to poor leadership, lack of vision and just plain arrogance. The arrogance to ignore changing market requirements and the need to help mid and level leaders retool themselves with new technologies and training.
If you are at Juniper, please update your resume and get out as fast as possible. If you are considering joining Juniper, do so as a stepping stone and don't plan on staying for long. That's it.
WFD is lucky to be in charge of a legacy BRAS business which makes lots of money for Juniper. Competitors in this space are not innovative which is why WFD can rest on its laurels and still survive. Line managers in WFD just fool around managing 5-6 engineers. All they do is poll status from this handful of engineers and post status upwards. If someone comes up with some innovative idea, it is shot down. The idea is to do exactly what you are told and do not use your brains i.e be a code monkey. The issue with implementing innovative ideas is that it increases the manager's work in that he/she would need to manage this extra work. They prefer to do this clerical work of transferring status of small work items to upper management. They cannot use their brains because they do not have any of it.
The entire first line manager in WFD can be removed and it will actually improve productivity in addition to reducing costs. Juniper should seriously think of implementing this cost-cutting measure in the next round of layoffs.
Stop trashing hapless line mgrs. They are in place so that the big boys have enough reports. wfd must offer a nice hiding place for empire building. Have heard its the usual prime schm**k and his boy routine. Beats having to deal with the svl madness.
Incompetent, immature, id--tic managers are dime a dozen all over JNPR - engineering, operations, sales and marketing teams are full of them at every level.
If you don't want to work for an a$$hole at a d---beat company in a dead end job, Juniper is not the place for you.
Were you in Sunnyvale or Westford? What you describe above seems to be more in line with Westford. I am an ex-WFD employee, almost all first-line managers in Westford are incompetent. Dir/VP have no choice, they know they cannot hire good managers from outside and there are hardly any capable inside. If someone is good, he/she will have a good job and will never consider Juniper. Juniper used to be a good company, it lost its way after the financial crisis in 2008. Now, it is a vicious cycle, good employees quit, the company cannot deliver without good employees, which causes more good employees to quit.
Regarding stock performance, Juniper stock has been shuttling between $20 and $30 for several years. It is reaching the upper end of its range. The cycle will turn pretty soon and the stock will make its way down towards $20.
Thanks bro. Our stock has been on a year since you left. Not all of us have the sack to admit we’re holding the company back.
