I disagree with the comment below that layoffs will be mostly in Canadian GTM.
With the upcoming divestiture, Brookfield wanted as many people as they could get, and Enbridge had to negotiate to keep some, as they need people for the GasTransmission business. I find it unlikely they will lay anyone off; rather, they are short handed.
I do agree with the possibility of layoffs in Major Projects - considering they are merging two massive groups, it seems reasonable that some jobs may be cut.
It will be mostly gas transmission and distribution in Canada. But they will also hit projects Both LP And Major. And few more operations folks who have passed the age of 50.
It hey the dividend will be safe for another quarter at least
Anyone have any idea as to what groups will be affected?
Its coming, be prepared.
If you’re good at reading body language and picking up on little hints, you will know if you’re on the layoff list for this round or not. All the signs are there if you pay attention.
Actually layoffs take a lot of planning and coordination. Rooms get booked, black bags get ordered, bosses schedules get cleared, agreements get written, IT gets geared up. Only takes 1 of the dozens of people in the loop to confirm the date and start the rumor mill
I’m always amazed that this information, if it’s true this time, leaks out. Given that Enbridge has now been through many rounds of layoffs, one would think the people in charge would know how to prevent at least the layoff date from getting out. Even if it turns out to be false, it upsets everyone.
That lines up with BOEF 1 in 2016.
Sh--y time of year to lose your job. Nobody hires at the end of the year.
October 17
Talked an old coworker in Houston. Projects is about to be hit any day now. But I bet they'll wait until after United Way Campaign.
I AM SO HAPPY TO NOT BE WITH THIS COMPANY ANYMORE!!!!!!
There will presumably be a lot of layoffs at EGD and Union Gas whenever they finally make the amalgamation announcement and start restructuring. I haven’t heard any good intel on timing though. They originally said they would start with the executive team and then gradually work their way down to restructuring individual teams, and that departments would be restructured at different times. But who knows if that should be believed.
As long as the Infrastructure Planning A-Team is immune from any layoffs then we can all exhale knowing that Enbridge's critical talent base will remain in tact.
Given the number of employees who have left on their own accord over the past year, why do we need further layoffs?
Most likely mid october
Email coming this week telling everyone to expect some reductions.
