The Bell Tolls for Pittsburgh Today

There is no way Pitt will be able to maintain Middle States accreditation; today's visit from MSCHE is a formality as they have already made a determination. The end of the road for Pittsburgh including online.

Hey Elder.... do you think MSCHE will call you a liar again today??

It’s a fancy name for a ceritificiate allowing for DCEH to procure title iv funds, but provides the student with debt and no job market ability for employers who aren’t interested in skill set, but candidates with a college degree. In short, while there may be flaws in some of the current programs, instead of fixing the quality of education, this helps circumvent accreditation and is TRULY a scam.

What is a nano credential?

*August 27, 2018

Colleagues,

On the path toward changing the face of higher education, DCEH seeks new and innovative ways to serve students’ needs. As a result of our focus on students and concentration on service, we are proud to introduce our new “Nano Credential” immersive learning experience.

DCEH’s inaugural Nano Credential offering provides students with an 8- to 11-week opportunity to focus on enhancing or developing professional skills to aid in their careers. The online, industry-infused curriculum is taught by experienced faculty members and culminates in a Certificate of Completion. Courses are skill-based and targeted to specific fields of study.

Nano Credentials give students an edge when working to meet employers’ demands for highly-skilled professionals. The flexible coursework delivers those skills without the time and cost associated with completing a traditional degree. Simply put, Nano Credentials are a way for professionals to give themselves an edge, keep pace with a rapidly-changing marketplace, and help their employers stay ahead of competition.

The Art Institutes and Argosy University alumni are being offered the opportunity to particpate in our inaugural Nano Credential courses that begin in October and include:

Social Media Marketing

Digital Photography and Image Management

Small Business Entrepreneurship Program

Mental Health Crisis Intervention

Addiction Peer Recovery Support Specialist

We are already reaching out to our alumni, making them aware of this new opportunity and offering them the chance to participate. I look forward to sharing their success with you in the weeks, months, and years to come.

Find out more about the inaugural Nano Credential coursework offerings in the Leadership Corner section of GoDCEH.

Sincerely,

TT

VP of DCEH Curriculum Center of Excellence*

The scoop as determined based on facts given via news and interdepartmental memos, and nice discussion throughout this site:

Looks like the plan all along was to wait for the Dept of Ed to approve Pell Grants for short term certificate programs, move online, and get rid of the overhead of on ground campuses, full time faculty etc, I predict AI as it has been known closes completely by the end of the year.

Anyone who comes back as an adjunct after being fired has zero self esteem or skills in the outside world and anyone who “believes in AI education” at this late date is a self justifying phony.

Amen!

4nwe- It hasn’t only been “ people who aren’t good enough” who’ve been laid off. In my department, they hauled 4 full timers in one day and said “a study” showed they only needed one of us so three were being laid off. But we could fight for the remaining position and reapply as adjuncts if we wanted. I was a multiple Faculty of the Quarter winner, had the top student evaluations in my department and when I asked for a letter of recommendation from the outgoing Dean he wrote I was “ one of the top two or three master teachers at the entire college”. But I sure as hell wasn’t going to grovel so I cleaned out my desk and left that Saturday. Anyone who comes back as an adjunct after being fired has zero self esteem or skills in the outside world and anyone who “believes in AI education” at this late date is a self justifying phony.

Keep in mind every Middle States meeting with faculty to date has been hosted online by JG, and monitored by her and JC. They cherrypicked onground faculty to speak and online questions to read. In the practice meeting, people spoke freely but were shut down if it was something they didn’t agree with. None of the questions from the practice meeting that were “questionable “ (class sizes, one university, AiO students taking 6 classes, semester conversion) made it to the real MS meeting Monday September 17.

Tearful passionate faculty spoke about their love and appreciation for all AiP and AiO had to offer them personally, how prestigious they were in the community and the benefits to the students.

AiO Faculty were told they did not need to see the report given to MS they were being told by the dean everything they needed to know.

Wish we had a recording to share of the dog and phony pony show.

Interesting, as I was a full timer for 10 years and then was laid off and brought back as an adjunct last summer (Summer 2017) and I was not even informed of the meeting. I would not have been so nice about my treatment and would have relayed any valid information that I've learned from this site. Despite still being employed by them, I want the place to crash and burn only to see JC lose her big paycheck and for screwing so many of us over with not an ounce of sympathy

There was an adjunct who was a former full time faculty who spoke. The desperation for acceptance in her voice was pitiful, she said she was still with AiP/AiO even though she’d been fired as a full time teacher and hired back as a 1/3 salary adjunct because she “believed in the Ai education.”

I threw up a little in my mouth while listening to her groveling and bowing before Ai administration and her begging Middle States not to let the program end. Sick in my mouth again. But that may have been thinking about people praising JC for being so accessible and easy to work with. Blech.

It was sad. People not good enough to be full time at AI supporting Ai when Ai will never support them.

Shame they don't invite all the adjuncts that were previously full-time faculty, as I bet they'd have lots of honest choice words to say, but the adjuncts aren't even informed of such meetings.

dmoore@post-gazette.com We have all been threatened with not only termination if we speak about DCEH or Ai business publicly, but also with personal civil lawsuits.

Assembly of God organizations don’t play games.

Read the sight, the posts from Monday’s meeting are 100% accurate. There were no references to semesters, one university, nano credentials, and the faculty speaking had to be hand picked.

The call was monitored by Cooper and Greenwood and no one dares cross them.

Good luck. The truth is out there or rather in here.
