Thread regarding Sears layoffs

H/E layoffs

One third of H/E is being laid off today. There are associates with over thirty years of service out of a job. Store closures will follow with in the next week. The end is getting closer.

If indeed one third of HE was let go than how many will be let go in the retail sector? Lets face it its getting to a point where you cant manage this company no more with the thin skeleton crew that is left. The work environment is horrible honestly its just plain sad at this point. I am curious to see if my store is going to keep going or its heading to closing soon enough.

Most of the faces I'm seeing wear the resigned expression of damned who know that their lives are not in their control. There are a few a---kissers who try to feign positivity, but we all know that the ship is half submerged.

The next 6 months are going to be critical for Sears/Kmart. We have lost so much critical mass the last 5 years that either a re-organization will happen or we are going to end up like TRUs or Carsons and shut down. Carson's tried to reorganize but could not raise financing.

There are multiple buildings, maybe parts of buildings for rent/lease at Hoffman. A link from the city of Hoffman Estates website led me to a real estate website. How much of the campus is still occupied and how many workers are still there?

No need for HR if your are closing down the business, no need to hire anyone. No need for finance if you are not making money. Simple

Sad how this "drain the swamp" poster always seems to find joy and satisfaction in other people's misfortunes.

I've heard that about 500 were being affected this week. Not sure what percentage that is, since the number of people at HE has fallen so much over the last few years.

Hoffman hasn’t had 3000 employees in years

That was the total before layoffs started years ago

WTF??? Hoffman has 3000 associates? Meanwhile they're running entire stores on a handful of people??? And you wonder why people are saying drain the swamp?????

I imagine this is just day one of the layoffs with more to follow in the coming days, who’s to say these things all have to happen in one day?

Whatever your feelings you have to give the swamp creature some credit for longevity, that person must have a serious grudge, I have seen them here for close to a year with the same old message. I feel sorry for them. Considering Hoffman has about 3000 associates a third (1000) would be logistically unlikely, processing a 1000 severance packages would be a challenge even for the most operationally sophisticated organization. We’ll find out via the WARN notice which will be released this week

It wasn't a third. You have bad info. And swamp creature needs to pull her head out of her backside.

I have trouble believing it’s that many but when the head of MT was asked how many, he wouldn’t answer. A big number would explain why the paid poster was working overtime this morning.
