Thread regarding JCPenney layoffs

JCP Corporate Headquarters is a TOXIC CESSPOOL of a work environment.

I worked there for over a decade and I watched it crumble around me. I finally left before giving them the chance to "eliminate" my position. The corporate culture at JCP is based on FEAR, INTIMIDATION and BULLYING and it comes from the top down. I'll repeat that, IT COMES FROM THE TOP DOWN. I watched things go from bad to worse before I left several years ago and I am not at all surprised at where they are now. I watched as experienced and motivated long time associates were laid off by the hundreds and replaced with inexperienced and entitled college graduates who were given fancy titles and 35K/year. Those kids didn't have a clue and the ones that are still there today are worse off for having wasted the last few years clinging to a sinking ship.

JCP does not have a chance. Too many Cooks spoil the broth and it went bad YEARS ago. Once it's all over the poor souls that are left will be released into the job market with a severely warped and damaged understanding of dignity and respect in the workplace.

I was gaslighted and abused by these douchebags for several years during the 90's, ultimately canned, with absolutely no explanation nor recourse. It was the most toxic and cronyism-laden environment I have ever encountered, And without going into details, I'm talking about the corporate offices in Plano. Everyone there was paranoid, back-stabbing, and just plain cruel, to a self-defeating extent and beyond. It would require an encyclopedic effort to describe what a miserable place it was to work, and I am so grateful to Google it up and find that I am not alone. I wish them all nothing but the worst, as they gave to me and many others.

JCPenney is a horrible place to work. They don't have a clue about continuity of operations and could care less about technology recovery plans.

I agree with this so very much. They set employees up for failing, and back stab many more. Intimidation and threats by upper store managers is constant. No respect or care for employees at all. We get blamed for theft and loss prevention let's customers walk out the door with millions . Morming meetings of lies and threats. We are a joke with people who frequency steal from our store. They say leave don't come back , but don't arrest snyone. Kids have s-x in the dressing rooms. Oh well they say, it's embarrassing to work in such a terrible place. Worst store management ever.
