Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

Working at EDMC has become a liability when looking for a new job.

I was laid off fro EDMC a few years ago... when looking for a new job, there were a couple of companies who told me no thanks specifically because of EDMC's reputation. But again, local Pittsburgh employers might be aware of how awful the company is, but the vast majority of employers don't know or care, aren't close to the misery like you are, or realize that you are not the person in charge who drove the company into the ground. I would keep it on your resume if it is directly related to your career field. And with each passing day, month, year, EDMC/DCEH will fall lower down on your resume.

Very true. This is something that every former employee has to keep in mind when applying for a job. OP by @VWDjByU-1fpy

My only concern is finding another job. Personally I work there because I do not know what I want to do. I do not hate my job however on the other hand I am not truly passionate about it either but I do what’s in the students best interest. Hopefully something will turn up so I can move on and have a better professional and personal life.

Most people that have been laid off or left on their own have found better jobs.

You're right! There's always a way to mkake a buck if you're willing to be a complete a--hole crook.

This is simply not true. Most of the folks released from our campus landed BETTER jobs.

200 dials a day? That’s 1 call every 2 minutes and 24 seconds. What is the point? Wouldn’t a robocall software be more efficient for “dialing” and then transfer to a live admissions rep if there’s an answer?

This school system could make a lot more money if they operated like a sales company instead of pretending to be a school.

Don't be dishonest with yourself. No potential employer will come right out and tell you that because of your having a relationship with DCEH, that has a reputation for flim flam, you are radioactive. It's much more subtle than that.

As far as having a negative attitude, that judgement is better levied on those who apparently fail to troll the third party developed leads and make the required 200 "dials" a day.

I was laid off from the admissions team in the Spring and landed an position at a Big 10 University before my severance ran out. I’ve never been happier. Our campus was a smaller one and didn’t have too bad of a reputation in our city, but nevertheless, it can be done. Don’t let EDMC/DCEH define you. Your attitude, your skills, and your character can outshine what this company has done to you. Put yourself out there. Life beyond EDMC is pretty incredible.

If you are not in admissions or FA, leave EDMC off your resume if you’re trying to work at a non-profit.

No problem getting job as faculty, have a few good offers...lots more adjunct then full time positions but I was willing to relocate and found job within a couple months of leaving Art Institutes. Same for several colleagues. It really is all about you, not EDMC or DCEH, and our campus had a great reputation in Florida. If you have skills and your field is booming then you should have no problem, just be patient and focused. Stay positive and new opportunities will come around.

True on the faculty side as well, universities don’t hold Ai and AU in very high regard. Graduation rates, portfolios and career placement play a big factor.

I would say you’re not telling the truth. If you were disqualified from a position because of where you worked that would open that company up to a liable suit. The truth is our interviewed, talked c-ap on your former employer, and weren’t hired because of your negetive attitude. At least be honest.
