I see a lot of negative posts on here - people who are disgruntled at the fact that CA has been sold to Broadcom and not knowing their future, or having just discovered it in other parts of the CA org (ie outside NA). Let's just put things into perspective: companies do get acquired and it should be regarded as a business transaction no more, no less. Gregoire isn't solely to be the target of such negativity, after all CA is a public company and board members and/or shareholders must vote on such transactions. Nobody is to "blame", it's just the world of business and frankly neither CA nor Broadcom owe you anything - you are responsible for yourselves and your career/future. So please stop griping here and do yourselves a favour: channel that energy and focus on making yourself happy. Whatever that looks like.

Be negative? Who told you you are in charge, weirdo? Yeah, I want to tell the Broadcom people who are reading this board, very specifically, why they got ripped off, s---ers, since they are good at uprooting people's lives to make a few people rich. It's the injustice, stupid.
Now, many of us at CA dug our own graves. I had 3 people I wanted to fire, and HR prevented me, and they contributed to the downfall. Seriously, I'm talking simply could not do their jobs, or AWOL for 2 months. They s---ed, but unless they killed someone, they were staying. I tolerated working for worse than mediocre management because CA was paying me over $200K. I watched management infighting slow down progress by a factor of 3. I've worked other places and this place S---ED in terms of effectiveness of engineering teams. I saw Senior VPs openly celebrating when another VP's team had trouble. I saw them yell and cuss at people 4 rungs lower in grade. I saw them brownnose and never want to have any bad news get out, as opposed to problem solving. So, yeah, I'm complaining, and if you don't like it, eat it.
I just hope that BikeBoy opens up "The Center for Kids that can't Read Good" with part of his earnings. Would be good for the people who really need help. He could helps homeless people too, you know, buy them a big sandwhich.
I hope i'll be joining you. I have bad luck in life so I'm probably on the STAY list... but maybe there's a chance
This is a public forum unlike yammer filled with non-stop bs politics every month and virtue signaling. It makes me wonder what those people actually do and if its productive.
@BikeBoy-Out f*ck the haters. Some of us appreciate you!
@VWrnwEz-ofh Thank you for your analysis.
I’ve been posting on this forum for two reasons. The first was to forward any rumors or off the record management statements to a larger forum. I did a lot of research on the Broadcom business model, read the SEC statement, cross checked it against Guy’s posts and spoke to others in the industry to find out what was going to happen. At first for me and my family, the. For my staff and coworkers. We were all too optimistic in July, but we’ll all know the end game next week.
The second reason was to blow off steam and to launch about this poor situation. I created the BikeBoy name, I wrote the story about the basement of the modern software factory. I also tried to create other nicknames that didn’t stick like HockALoogie and NotReddy. I made a sphincter joke today- I thought that was pretty good too.
But I’m tired of the sermons telling people it’s their fault or they should move on. I’m tired of the know it alls who post inaccurate information. I’m tired of CA and praying I get let go Wednesday, though I’ve been told otherwise. I’m done with this board - adios b--ches!
I, for one, admire Bike Boy for what he accomplished for himself. I would love to be able to do something like that! He must have some talent, you have to admit. I wouldn't mind being in his shoes right now! :)
@VWrnwEz-pnu some people read the OP's post and agree, others view it with contempt. there's always a choice. how you read into what was said says more about you than anything else
@VWrnwEz-was. For me $50M is incredibly huge amount of money. Looks like for you too. But not for BikeBoy! It's a mistake to view him as one of us. I believe his ambitions were much higher - to become a billionaire! Once he bragged about dining with Mike Dell and I got a feeling that he was so proud and happy about it (probably jealous and envious at the same time). He had it all, a multibillion company, a lot of cash at his disposal, trust of shareholders, etc. etc., and yet he failed. He and his team of managers they all failed. The only real business idea they've ever had was to through money for yet another acquisition, in hopes it miraculously would make a difference. Internal development was also a failure. I remember one of them complaining "we spend a lot of money on projects and can't get results". Of course you can't dumbarses! You always acted like Pinocchios burying money in the Field of Miracles and waiting for gold coin tree to grow. They've never been able to appreciate ideas, talent, organize a creative environment. I couldn't believe my eyes watching them sacking very talented and motivated developers. Inglorious bas..., oh no, inglorious mediocrities.
But let's not concentrate on this much (original poster is right). It's time to move on!
I hereby proclaim:
Thou shall put things in perspective
This is a business transaction - no more, no less
I shall tell you where to target your negatively, only after I approve said negativity.
Ca is a public company and forthwith can do whatever the board decide
No one is to blame but yourself
Therefore I dost order thou to stop griping.
Channel your energy on whatever dost make thou happy, after I approve said endeavor
I hereby make this positivity proclamation on November 2nd in the year of our Lord 2018. Go forth in positivity!
P. S. Did you really think the original post was positive? Positively condescending...
Princess Markle is not bad.... hope i don't get fired for saying so
Alright everyone, only the positive people allowed in this board, you got me? P-O-S-I-T-I-V-E - as in happy messages, encouraging vibes, being happy for all, being thankful for what we have and really feeling that. everyone else can bugger off
To all those who say that this takeover isn’t fair I the original poster say
Wrong, sir! Wrong! Under section 37B of the contract signed by Bikeboy, it states quite clearly that all employment offers shall become null and void if - and you can read it for yourself in this SEC filing - "I, the employee, shall forfeit all rights, privileges, and licenses herein and herein contained," et cetera, et cetera... "Fax mentis, incendium gloria cultum," et cetera, et cetera... Memo bis punitor delicatum! It's all there! Black and white, clear as crystal! You are a lowly employee. You believed in then Modern Software Factory, CA DNA, and cycling..... so you get... NOTHING!!! You lose! GOOD DAY, SIR!
And gosh darn it don’t you dare complain on this message board! God save princess Markle!
CA and Broadcom don’t owe us anything - that is more ignorant than a Brexit rant.
Broadcom owes CA shareholders 18 billion dollars - that bill is due Monday.
CA owes bikeboy 50 million dollars. CA owes employees 7/12 of their FY19 bonus.
Broadcom owes employees severance for the next year as per the terms of the buyout deal. Broadcom owes employees RSU’s as per terms of the buyout as well.
All the ignorance of your post is even without considering the morals and ethics. CA portrayed themselves as an ethical company. CA acquired and destroyed all kinds of companies, especially the most recent acquisitions knowing full well the company was up for sale.
The board and our leadership failed over the last few years - staying flat in one of the largest stock market booms and technology expansions in the history of the world. To cover this mistakes up, they sold the company to a butcher.
Hi all I’m a control freak. I’m posting on the layoff.com, in the CA section, demanding you all stop complaining about the layoffs at CA.
US Companies getting acquired destroyed happens all the time - get over it? Richard Gere was doing it on a regular basis in Pretty Woman. It’s very common.
so please let me tell you how you should feel, where you should post, and how many times you should wipe your a--.
@VWrnwEz-was It makes us stupid but moral. Bikeboy had no morals, other than looking out for himself and his cronies so they could cash out.
@VWrnwEz-lzv Well that “mediocre” guy was the CEO of a multinational company and just cashed in 50M$ - if that’s mediocre what does that make us I wonder ?
"you are responsible for yourselves and your career/future" is not a corporate line. It is the way of the world.
@VWrnwEz-kus That’s called corporate America and it’s not specific to CA or Broadcom. If you want change vote better next time
Yeah, "you are responsible for yourselves and your career/future" That's the corporate line they feed to the gullible as they push your wages to poverty level, raid your pensions, and destroy your healthcare - all while CEOs stuff their bank accounts. Corporations NEVER go it alone. They have armies of lobbyists, revolving Board members, and corporate welfare to get their taxes to ZERO. And if the bottom falls out from mismanagement, they have YOUR taxpayer money to give them a bailout. Don't be a fool.
@VWrnwEz-yds. You're right! There may be a few individuals with negativity, but great majority of people just having fun. Fun is a good thing, it helps to overcome stresses. And nobody "blames" BikeBoy. How can you blame somebody for being mediocre? It's not a person's fault, it's mother nature.
*walking away
The only thing i'm annoyed about is the wait to find out if i'm getting my severance or asking away without it. Hurry up November 7th!!
What if people are happy posting here? That’s how happiness look like.
