I was hired at small Ad Agency last year. It was two roles in one, making the job really overwhelming. The boss assured me it would take months before I would settle into the role. After three months I approached him to set up my review and asked if they were keeping me. He assured me they were. A few days later I found a job ad for my position online and shortly after they mistakenly scanned a contract for someone else to my email. When I confronted them they told me they were going to contract the position and that the following week would be my last. On my last day they actually threw me a small goodbye party. When the party was over I went back to my desk to wrap up my work. One by one everyone left the office leaving me there by myself. It was the most bizarre lay off I have ever encountered. While I was miserable there, I needed the work. It’s been almost 6 months on unemployment and it’s been very stressful looking for another job, especially as my unemployment gets closer to running out.
