Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Wishing you all the best

It's hard and sad to see great people leaving, but never forget we ourselves brought CA where it is, it was our hard work, it was the extra miles we ran, it was our concessions... so just take a look at the way ahead of you, millions of possibilities... deep breath and take your next professional challenge.

... and of course, when you find something else to do, never forget those great people who worked so hard side-by-side with you. That's what we have to do now.

Wish you all the best! It was awesome to work at that awesome company made by each one of us.

I worked for CA since the early eighties - the moment I turned 50+ the company dropped me like a wet noodle.. It took a few years on the outside to realize how incompetent and talent less most of their so called Product Management, Sales and Developers truly are.... CA never was a software company. Never... All they do is negotiate contract renewals - How much money can they get etc. Not a single person in sales even knows or cares about what software is sold - the 'new' sales contracts has random software names put onto them - all in the name of getting the revenue... Just think about how much bonus money has been paid out for product sales that customers never even installed. Heck - most contract sales are done with Contract administrators - not consumers or users of the software...

And there is nothing wrong with any of this - but please don't think you are saying goodbye to a real software company here. Broadcom realized this - they can cut back everything to support only - and nobody would give a c-ap about it....

Just think about this. 20 years ago CA was a 4 Billion Dollar company - and 20 years later - it's still a 4 billion dollar company... So basically anything that was acquired - 'developed' or sold ended up in one big flat revenue.

The best thing about CA was my co-workers. I met some quality people. Luckily, those relationships don't have to end just because the company is ending.

The next best thing was the boost it gave my career. I almost doubled my salary over the years and am in a great position for my next job.

Otherwise, it's been mediocre.... just like any job.

Agree with whoever said not to build your whole existence around your job. It's not worth it. Work to live, don't live to work.

It's job only, ffs! There are many things which are much more important than this. And you can call it karma as well. CA did this to other companies all the time.

It was nice ride but we all know that CA was not in the great shape so acquisition is better than bankruptcy.

Take your severance, enjoy holiday and find new job. It's better to be laid off now than in two, three years when will hit us the economy crisis.

You all need your heads examining. IT WAS A JOB!! For f--- sakes! There was never anything that great about CA, so stop living in your bubble and next time try not to build your whole existence around your job. No wonder Management got away with screwing people over, so many weak minded people in CA.

Goodbye all!

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
