Sysco will continue with layoffs and downsizing and substitute with automation. With a trimmed payroll, they can focus on mergers and acquisitions that further expose themselves to the growing labor crisis. Soon enough this mega Corp will collapse onto itself under the weight of it’s own ambition.
It's happening in Florida. My husband was terminated on the Jan 4, 2019, along with lots of others. More were terminated the following week. Outside sales with Sysco for over 7 years. The entire Credit Dept in Jacksonville was eliminated also.
Sysco will sell its employees on the “we aren’t downsizing” but all this technology that it’s implementing are self learning. Their revenue management tools and CRM are learning customers buying habits. It will start with procurement, then slowly but surly the sales force will be cut down 30%-40%. They will compensate the skilled sales reps with more street business but the pay will drop per account. In the meantime I see another commission plan adjustment for the sales force.
They will try to move the specialty company to Shared Service in Cypress, and then standardize the procedure like they did to the broad line. Once the standardization done, all job will be ship to India !
