Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Asked to take a package

I am one of the effected as I'm 60 years old and am at magic number 67 and had a face to face with my manager and was told I will not be chosen in the MOR ongoing as best I take the package. So my best interest is to take the package which they have not sent me anything on what I will receive and the excuse is to many people requesting the package so when they get to my entitlements they will send me an email. Many others in my organization in Unconventionals are taking the package. Thought it was interesting the last several months to see the influx of young engineers moving in to Permian from PA. and university.

Bumped from @UKrXKXu-18vvv for info.

Definitely She’ll is targeting people with 80 points and managers working in conjunction to facilitate.HR is very well versed at the art of lying and making employees feel they are on their side.....just like SS gestapo did ......do not trust shells HR, it is full of snakes and f---ing manipulators just like people in that company. Some survivors are just good but the rest are hyenas. Shame on the company and its management, I wish I never worked there......it was the black dot on my carrier path

HR rules are made as cover for management. This is relaxed for a few select people who network and but not work . Finally it is whom you know and not what you know . Your manager is your god .jobs are moved to emerging countries here again rules are not followed because employees can't sue them in these countries

The current layoffs are to get rid of people with the 80 point pension plan. Correct me if i'm wrong; The 80 point pension plan can be worth 2-3 million if you work for 30 years, retire JG1/2, and live another 20 years past retirement. The APF plan under similar assumption is a one time payout of ~700K.

The next big Shell savings effort will be to dissolve pensions. This will happen during the next downturn

Original poster--I'm sorry this is happening to you before you want to go.

Regarding the talk of lawsuits and age discrimination...Shell (and other companies) offer severance packages to get you to sign a document that says you won't sue. Even if you did want to sue for age discrimination, everyone else is grabbing the last cash that they can from Shell--they can be reported as "voluntary severance" and don't count towards age discrimination statistics.

I was forced to retire 3 years sooner than I had planned, due to the constant harassment, and abuse by a piece of $h!t do nothing "manager" whos only concern was whatever was good for him. the company rules, safety concerns, and policies set forth in the union contract, were all routinely ignored, if it benefited him in some way. repeated reports by myself and other employees to HR,(the biggest joke in the entire co.) his boss, and his bosses boss were never acted upon, and I assume buried somewhere. I decided to contact an attorney, which resulted in a 6 figure payout for amounts I would have accumulated in my pension, 401, and percentage of retiree health insurance costs. the co. wants to avoid lawsuits at all costs, and offered the settlement within 6 weeks of the attorney contacting them, with the threat of a lawsuit! the POS manager is still there, but I made absolutely sure the news of the payout got back to him, and that I got the last laugh!!! IF YOU THINK YOU GOT SCREWED BY SHELL OIL CO. CONTACT AN ATTORNEY!

Ask about part time options

In terms of lawsuits good luck it’s called cost cutting for earnings part of the corporate beast

If you’re 60 why not retire and enjoy life. If you didn’t save anything, well, that’s a different ball game. Best thing is try the horses and see if you get lucky.

It won't help anyway! The world is laughing at you, clowns! The USA and "chevron" are collapsing, don't you see that? You are in the middle of your total collapse, and nothing can stop this natural process.
