It's a shame that so many of you are intimidated by our Gestapo Corporate...afraid to speak your minds. You just keep on taking all the unreasonable c-ap that Corporate burdens you with (crazy top-stock standards, no one to help lift sofas and recliners, insufficient DTS hours, asking customers "20 questions" at checkout, piles of paperwork/computer work, etc...Then, they have the NERVE to say that they treat us like a "second family!" LOL Bruce's goal is to turn our stores into low-budget "sweatshops," like the ones in Beijing and other Chinese cities...to make more profits for our greedy stockholders...and HIMSELF!

There is not a perfect place to work. They all have their issues. They are all about making a profit. Unfortunately there are always casualties. Move on and let it go. Dont let it fester.

Left 2 years ago, Easy Leasing, more like easy bending you over. I hated doing easy leasing, it is a 2.1x mulitplier. That means that a $1000 purchase, if the customer pays all of the payments , they pay, $2100. Who really pays it off in 90 days, very few. Easy leasing is just as bad as the pay day loan places. Most people who use easy leasing are poor people, just like the ones that work there. Poor taking advantage of poor to Big Lots $$$$, wheres your share, not in your pockets.

Blind followers! So sad, this is why Big Lots can treat people like c-ap and get away with it, blind, low self-esteem followers like yourselves. You are all worth more than they make you feel like. BIg Lots does it because Walmart does it? Walmart invests a ton of hours into their buildings, Big Lots expects you to do it all. How many associates are in your store on any weekday morning, 2 ,you and a cashier. Walmart will have at least 1 person for every 2 aisles, some cashiers, and backroom people. Can't blame zero hours on Walmart. Yeah its retail and the shifts and hours arent always great, yeah everyone needs a paycheck, but it doesnt have to be as bad as it is at Big Lots. Bruce and your DTL will enjoy their Turkey while you are working till 1am, enjoy! What a sh–ty toxic environment.

Not me. I will work if needed on Thanksgiving day. This is retail. Blame Walmart. They started all this being open on Thanksgiving day not biglots!

How about roasting Bruce's turkey this Thanksgiving Day and having an "Orange Flu" day on Thanksgiving? Everyone who feels that we are NOT treated as a "second family" by Big Lots, as we are open 7am to 12 midnight on Thanksgiving, should call in sick. At the very most, we should be open only 10a-6p, so we can spend that special day with our REAL families! Who's with me on this?

Just wondering.....for those stores that have been converted to “The Store of the Future”, have their sales increased? Was it worth the average $400,000 expense per store to do the conversion?

I left this company almost two years ago. I knew it would eventually crumble. The funny thing is no one believed me, jokes on them! I seen this coming around 2015. I worked in management and it was pure hell. Big Lots is a joke of a company and the furniture they sell is complete garbage! I honestly felt bad selling the items to the customers. I’m glad to see Big Lots going under, they did so many people dirty! I seen so much happen in my almost 11 years in that hell hole. I have no idea why I even stayed so long. I feel sad for all the people that recently lost their jobs, but look on the bright side you’re not in hell anymore and there is a brighter future for you. This company is a joke from corporate all the way down to the DTLs and STLs. All puppies running around chasing their tails. They are over paid and don’t do a damn thing to lift a finger to help, they sure do bark a lot and that’s about it. Now, not all DTLs and STLs are this way but 99% are. I know of one STL in Southern California that has been under investigation many times for s-xual harassment and still is employed. That just shows you the type of company we work or worked for. Get out while you can it’s such a better world when you leave. So much more I want to say but who’s listening anyway? Good luck to us all!

Just incase anyone is also searching for answers, I was contacted by my old boss, letting me know my job was being offered at my old store but with a huge pay cut. $15 an hour for ATL Service. In California where minimum wage will be at $15 June 2020. I’d be a fool to go back You are not alone!

Severance pay question, they will account for at least 1 day off. My severance ended on a Tuesday and accounted for 1 day off.

Since some of our severance ends in the middle of the week.. does that mean we are getting paid for those days instead of the whole week?

If the company wanted to save money so bad they could have told the DM's that they are not allowed to use tons of extra hours, bring people in from other stores, bring managers in from another town and put them up in hotel rooms just to get ready for the RM to come for a visit.
Asset protection should look at the payroll and the reported expenses that come up right around the time a regional or a market manager comes to visit and start getting rid of DM's. I never understood why the management was threatened with write ups for going over on hours, but if the DM did it to impress his boss it was perfectly okay.

What sales were down the weekend after a 3 day F&F event. Its okay, they will just reduce hours too make up the difference. They dont have to reduce hours, Big Lots is very profitable, the poor weekend sales are an excuse to reduce hours. Greedy Mo Fo's.

More ABSURD news from BRUCE'S Wacky World came down yesterday...September's 3-Day Friends & Family Event (Fri. 9/27, Sat. 9/28, and Sun. 9/29) was "TOO successful!" (lmao). It adversely affected net sales for the week ending 10/05/19. So...we DON'T want Jennifer to come in and buy a couple carts worth of merchandise during Friends & Family...because the she doesn't return to our store the following week??? What kind of crazy logic is that?! Bruce wants it "both ways." The man is SO GREEDY, that he's not playing with a full deck! This is reflected in yesterday's Stock Market figures...Big Lots closed the day at a near-record low of $21.15/share...Sad.

On check , payday 10/19, I didn't have any insurance payments withheld, did anyone else have that happen. Is biglots not giving us our insurance like they said in the agreement?

VERY right about the "significant difference" in pay. Joked with my STL about quitting for 6 months and coming back as an outsider but after all that has happened at my store and within company at large I am starting the job hunt shortly.

Agreed, i have been part of 2 lay offs, both companies listed the ages of people laid off to avoid an age discrimination law suit. The ages were all across the board, twenties to sixties. This avoids a lawsuit based on a protected class: age, gender, s-xual orientation, disability, race..... Big lots could easly say that we were chosen becuase the DTL did not like us, not being part of the DTL's group that he likes is not a protected class. No Law Suit.
I feel that i was laid off because it was significantly cheaper to lay me off as a higher paid outside higher and to promote a signifantly lower paid internal ATL. Internal promotions always get paid less than external hires, it is a significant difference. The almight dollar and greed rules, none of us had to be laid off, Big Lots is very profitable. It makes money!!! Greed was our undoing.

When they laid off the batch .. they listed off the ages of everyone they let go and it had a fairly large range which won't let your lawsuit hold up. Sadly your only option is to move on, there's no merit there. (Under 35 myself).

Just wanted to know how many of you are over the age of 40 just talked to an employee lawyer we might have a lawsuit in place with an age discrimination lawsuit
