No official word has come out. You would know reality next year looking at number of employees in broadcom. My best guess is 2-2.5K fired before closure and another 2-3K within 1 year. Also about 1K+ moved out to veracode, HCL, etc.. So the total impact should be around 5K+.

Mainframe should have less impact next year.

Negative outlook for Enterprise system. Groups like Agile, Devops, Payment security are going to have a tough time as the sales will be badly impacted. Be ready for major firing next year.

No official word on layoffs this year... holds good all the erstwhile BRCM sites

don' surprise. this is norm as long as you work long here.

Worse still, if newly bought company has overlap functions with existing BU, be prepared may have layoff in existing BU regardless if BU hit $ target.

Any advice for NA CA mainframe employees who are staying?

Yes there will be batches of CA employees departing in May - June - July and August

By September of 2019 I’m guessing the employee count will be 5k - 6k.

Broadcom isn’t just reducing headcount. They’re also streamlining CA’s incoherent IT framework in favor of Google Mail, docs, calendar, chat etc ....

They’re centralizing CA’s scattered NA IT infrastructure into two main NA collocation facilities. Super smart move. I’m not sure how much office consolidation they’re doing but I’m sure they’ll make it work.

From what I’ve seen so far from with CA Broadcom is like a well oiled machine.

I’ll be transitioned with severance in summer 2019

Report says 300 layoffs in CA ?? Here you are writing 2000 ??

Erstwhile Broadcom-LSI-Avago is on very strong wicket. It is doing much better than rest of the Semiconductor Companies. These BUs are already in optimum shape. So don't expect any layoffs in 2019 as there was no layoffs(except bottom 2%) in 2018 also !!
