What are your thoughts on Mainframe office locations?? From Lotko post on yammer, it looks like mainframe bu will be focused at few selected locations only. As we saw today, massive layoffs happened in India. I Believe Prague will be safe for mainframe. What are locations in US that you believe will be continued with mainframe engineers?? PLANO/LISLE/FRAMINGHAM.. Any other locations?? what happens to Ewing??

Other than the ITC going away, from what I hear nothing is changing for the MF BU. Plano, Lisle, and Pittsburgh in the US, Prague in Europe. Framingham was never on the MF BU list for the past two years. Some offices such as Islandia (or wherever it moves), Ewing, and Santa Clara will have teams supporting their existing products, but will not be core sites. GL was never on board with the "fire people with 30+ years of experience and replaces them with greenies in Prague" that a certain CPO pushed, which is a good thing. R&D expenditures for the mainframe are already so low, what do you actually gain by offshoring talent? Going from 4% to 2.5% of revenue?
@VSh1rfQ-1qmk, We are discussing on Mainframe engineering teams here. MF is completely out from India with 6-12 months transitions. Few may get offered with relocations which need to be seen in coming days.
In my view it is massive layoff with better notification period.
What massive layoffs in India? I'm not hearing the same news as you. From what I've heard, it's not so bad?
@VSh1rfQ-1kjn, most people at CA still call it Framingham. Old habits die hard. Get over it!
@VSh1rfQ-1lcw, cool. why don't you name few which you are aware of? Simply reading posts and finding mistakes doesn't help anybody.
FRAMINGHAM? That wasn't even on the list pre-aquisition. FRAMINGHAM doesn't even exist as an office anymore. It moved to Burlington. If you're going post something, at least have semblance of a clue.
Ewing still exists?
Yes, of course. There are atleast 15-20 people I know that works at Ewing office. Atleast their outlook location shows that.
what happens to Ewing
Ewing still exists?
