Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Lessons in declining employee morale

I remember times before the bike boy landed in our backyard – I was getting hefty two digit pay increases and 1000s of shares of stock. This was helpful given very long work hours and a ton of weekend work. Yet, I liked my total comp and was willing to put up with a ton of sh-- just because I felt I was compensated for the stress, trouble, etc.

The HE came…The hikes stopped, perks started to go away and the work became even more unbearable. He came up with a genius concept of punishing developers if sales were not as expected even though the sales rock stars slowly started to abandon the ship and mediocre sales personnel was assuming the helm.

So, the bike boy is about to get his $50 million dollars – and most of us will lose jobs. We’ve already lost this once great company. Good job destroying an American software legend Mikey…

Your bosses don't care about you, the markets don't care about you, the economy doesn't care about you.

Only insofar as they can extract adequate surplus from your labour; once that objective is achieved you're rendered superfluous and thrown on the sc-ap heap. Doesn't matter who the CEO is. The market is king and the market is ruthless.

It started before bike boy. Under Grandpa Bill the purse strings tightened.

The poster prior to me is correct. But the problem with CA is they shot themselves in the foot over and over. They did not directly predict market direction and trends and spent years playing catch up. They made poor decisions expecting an outcome and consistently got the wrong outcome. Time for this ship to sink.

dont forget all the clap'ing footmen. all around in that "CA" since all time.

I think M saw that the dilbert-principle was established since years and this was the perfect job to step in and get out.

The funniest things about all these 'bikeboy' posts, is they completely ignore the fact that the board, his bosses, gave him raises. They gave him bonuses. They voted him chairman and gave him the platinum parachute...after the acquisition was announced.

I realize all of us on the ground know far more than they do about the company, what was happening, and the job he did...but yeah we don't.
