Everyday is a layoff day, how silly Enbridge Edmonton is.

Union Gas was left alone for a reason by Spectra. It's because the company had great leadership and knew what it was doing so Spectra did not mess with a good thing.

Enbridge corporate has already started meddling in UG's affairs and the MADDs application has accelerated the interference. Enbridge's way is my way or the highway and screw best practices or processes. I can see another Marshall incident in the future or maybe another gas explosion in Toronto which killed 9 people. This is something that Enbridge does NOT want to talk about and they say safety is a core value but they don't walk the talk especially if it costs money. IT's only a matter of time before we have a major incident.

Lol, the UG-EGD amalgamation is a special situation and yes, they told us directors will be cut in November (word on the street is Nov 6 or 7) and managers and down in Q1 and Q2. I agree it's weird to tell you staff something like that so far in advance, but because two similar utilities are being mashed into one, and they had to give us a basic timeline for when the new teams will be formed, and layoffs will obviously go along with that.

This is specific to EGD and Union Gas... and the parts off shared services that support EGD and UG. If your job has nothing to do with those two utilities, then you don't have to worry about this particular dumpster fire.

Fo those that don't know the background, Union Gas was owned by Spectra and is similar to EGD (both natural gas utilities in Ontario servicing a similarish number of customers), except they've historically been run very different because Spectra (and Duke before it) let UG do its own thing, whereas Enbridge corporate meddled constantly with EGD and jaded many employees with its general Enbridge-ness. Anyway, there was a bunch of regulatory red tape that prevented the two utilities from being amalgamated, but its proceeding now. It s---s.

No company in their right mind will announce mass layoffs so far ahead of time. This elink poster is a fraud that is why there is nothing in elink.

Thursday. Small scale. You likely won't hear anything about it unless you know of someone or are one of the chosen.

I don't see why people care about when the layoff is at this point. Everyone I know is looking so if they find something they leave. Until then they stay and if they get laid off then it is what it is. It's not like after this round of layoff there won't be anymore or the company will magically become a great place to work. Enbridge is now a wood beam with termites. The damage is done, there is no reversing it. For people who are wondering who the termites are, look at directors and up and everyone hired based on nepotism.

The people that used to supply accurate information probably have either left or been let go.

At least we know that security is tight. No one seems to know what is going to happen.

Layoffs are generally done the Wednesday before pay day.

Senior mgmt has confirmed that there is "something coming" before American Thanksgiving. I'm sure that would not refer to a few people going out the door. This is in addition to ongoing small layoffs.

According to the thread below, every day is layoff day. Instead of being done in large batches they will be done a little at a time.
