Yes, as paychecks are semimonthly (at least in the US), two weeks of pay is about 92% of one paycheck. Of course there’s no deductions for healthcare, 401(k), so to figure expected severance you’d need use annual gross divided by 26 as the base for two weeks, then figure what you’d expect withholding for income tax, SS, Medicare, adjusting if you hit the limit for SS deductions (or will), I’m not sure what they do if you have additional tax withholding per pay period, they may just skip that altogether (I’m not a lawyer, not in HR, not an accountant, etc.)

one year equates to one paycheck, two years equates to two paychecks

No, one year means two weeks only..

Regarding the 4 months guy, probably you will be given preference to adjust on some other teams where there are people that are retained for now and will go on divestiture in near 1 year or so..

You won’t get any severance if you are less than a year... Again, your severance is determined by how many years you are there for, one year equates to one paycheck, two years equates to two paychecks, and so on.

How much severance can I expect if I joined 4 months ago. My probation was mentioned as 6 months
