Vermont 100 Jobs Lost

Here is a quick PR stunt for all of you who keep saying that there will be no layoffs in Vermont. How do you like them cakes now - 100+ cut and even more coming...

WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) More than 100 Vermonters will lose their jobs at Keurig Dr Pepper.

Vermont Labor Commissioner Lindsay Kurrle tells WCAX News the company is cutting 118 jobs in Vermont and a total of 500 worldwide. The cuts are reportedly a result of the recent merger of the two beverage companies.

Eighty-two of the Vermont job cuts will happen in Waterbury, where the company was born as Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. Keurig has more than 1,000 employees in Vermont but cuts were signaled when the merger with Dr Pepper Snapple was announced over the summer.

Kurrle says the affected employees will be paid through Jan. 4. This is the second round of layoffs for Keurig this year. Thirty-five Vermonters were let go back in May.

Our Taylor Young is speaking with Commissioner Kurrle now and she will have more details on this story tonight on the Channel 3 News at 6 p.m.
