Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

You will feel better after you left Seaworld

I see everybody getting worked up about potential layoffs. I’m a former employee that quit last year after working more than a year at Seaworld. I shared the same feeling of fear while I was working there before I decided to quit, and I have to say that all of the fear and anxiety were for noting. There are million other jobs that you can do and almost any of them are better than working at Seaworld.

I don’t want to sound like a bitter former employee that speaks ill about the company and I have to say there were some good things. The job was dynamic and the colleagues created a good environment. The fact is that, while working here, you get used to everything that is wrong and don’t really think of the opportunities out there. When you look at it from the outside, who in their right mind would want to have a job with a lousy pay, working longer and inconsistent hours ( especially in season), and being bullied by detached managers that don’t care about how good work you did. I certainly felt better after I left, so if you do get fired don’t feel down, almost any job you find after that will pay better and will be an upturn for you.

I was laid off last year and I can’t say that’s true for me. I haven’t gotten another job because I’m either overqualified or underqualified...

I couldn't have said it better. You get used to everything being wrong and you are bullied by detached managers and supervisors who haven't worked in the outside world for decades. Leads are afraid of Supervisors who are afraid of their Managers who are afraid (what used to be Directors). Which means line level employees are written up for stupid things and truely are unhappy with the job. The ridiculous guests who lie to get free things (your employee was rude so compensate me). The company didn't used to believe the guest automatically but now they are so desperate that employees are literally being physically assaulted by the guests. They give no training for how to handle that kind of situation. I can tell you it's better on the outside than the inside of Sea World.
